Have you tried one of the more modern 460cc drivers? I reckon you could take a few shots off your game by using a bigger driver with a sorta 10ish degree loft.<br />
<br />
However you seem better than me so probably best not listening to me <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

Weight 95kg<br />
Cycles to work 2 times (30 mins each way) and did weights once this week. <br />
<br />
Score - 77 (ave 77)<br />
GiR - 50% (ave 46%)<br />
Fairways - 60% (ave 50.2%)<br />
Birdies - 2; conv rate 22.2% (ave 28.4%)<br />
Putts - 35 (ave 33; 1.81 p/h) <br />
*Up & Down - 4/10 (ave 40%)<br />
<br />
Also, as was not playing in any kind of tournament, I had a pedometer to measure my tee shots on all par 4's and 5's, so this included any I hit irons (didn't today) or 3 woods as well as driver - ave drive 273m; longest 301m<br />
<br />
*new stat that is very important for me; where I am within 40yards of green and I hit on the green and 1 putt, this is an 'up and down'<br />
<br />
<br />
301m drive? Do you mean yards, or was that downhill or something?

Yeah I need to start a new program to fix my shoulder. I went to the physio to get it looked at and my right shoulder compared to the left is a bit shit. When I bring my arm/shoulder back the scapula gets locked in much before my left and the rest of the muscles compensate for it making it very sore.

I played just 9 today with my new irons I had never it. I think it destroyed my confidence and I hit one of my worst games ever.<br />
<br />
Need to also hit the driving range before I get back onto the course so I can get used to the new clubs.

I peaked at about a 12 handicap using a really crap set of clubs. I've spent about $2000 on this set because I want to get serious again, and I think I have the potential to break 10 which is my aim this year.<br />
<br />
The only clubs I didn't get off ebay were the irons (which I wanted clubfit) and the driver (superceded by the FT-5). The rest I paid about 50% retail price.<br />
<br />
The putter was probably the most expensive at $325 but scotty camerons are really nice. I do however want a mallet putter, such as one of those oddysseys.

I played 9 holes yesterday and hit 44. Not too bad since I have just started playing again after 3 years break. <br />
<br />
What clubs do you use? Heres my new set, its a bit mix and match as some were off ebay.<br />
<br />
Callaway FT-3 fusion driver<br />
Titleist 904F 3 wood<br />
Taylor Made Rescue 3-4 (thinking about getting a 2)<br />
Callaway X-20 irons 3-PW<br />
Titleist Vokey spin milled 56degree wedge (I want to get a 46 and 60 wedge too one to replace my current PW)<br />
Scotty Cameron Newport 2.5 putter

Results!<br />
<br />
I was getting pretty down because I hadn't noticed a whole lot of change in the 6 weeks I've been training. This morning I put on a pair of work pants I hadn't worn for a couple of months that are usually a bit tight around the waist. They now fit perfectly, and I need to tighten my belt up 1 more notch!

Havent updated for a while, but I was going solidly again till the weekend just gone. Went to QLD for a big piss up and did all those things I shouldnt be doing.<br />
<br />
Went back yesterday and my muscles started tightening up really fast. I was pretty disappointed, but I should be able to make up for it next session.

Try something like a rice cracker with cottage cheese on it. That way it gives you some fast burning carbs and protein that will help you work out, and will burn fast.

• Good web site!

Hmm.. im not really a calorie counter. It is proven that different types of carbs and proteins have a different effect on your metabolism, and while one type of food might have more calories than another, it is actually assisting you in weight loss.

Yeah not losing any weight tho :nta<br />
<br />
Weights last night. Managed to get through pushups with only minor back pain - have to really concentrate on tilting my pelvis forward to prevent my hips sagging, which is what I think caused the back pain.<br />
<br />
Its a bit wet here in Sydney today, so tonight's exercise might involve getting footy boots on and heading down the oval for some sprint work. Need to work on the self-propelled fitness I think.<br />

<br />
Don't make weight the ultimate measure in your program. Since I started, my weight has gone up and down from my original weight, but I also measured body fat and found that it has started to decrease by a few % already.<br />
<br />
You can buy scales that measure it, or you can have a skin fold test done.

<br />
Starting to see some strength gains which is good.

If you are struggling to make gains, I recommend paying for a session with a good personal trainer to give you a fitness assessment and a programme. Every body is different, and a different point of view every now and then from someone whose actually trained to give advice might improve you heaps.

• The 90 Day Challenge: Milk Log

Before you read any of what I'm about to say, I'd like to mention that im no fitness guru. Everything I have learned has been through the Internet, or down at my local gym.<br />
<br />
Actually, none of my gym workouts leave me with sore muscles a few days later anymore.
<br />
<br />
If your not having pain after a gym session it probably doesnt mean all that much. It could mean you recover faster which doesnt sound too bad. On the other hand, if your strength and weight hasn't been increasing, it could be a sign that you need to vary your work outs. e.g. do 2-4 weeks of really heavy weights and low reps, or lighter weights and high reps. I think the theory behind that is that your body adapts, and therefore needs a change to stimulate more muscle growth.<br />
<br />
Before the gym I had muesli, 2 bits of toast and a coffee. After the gym I had a protein shake when I got to work.
<br />
<br />
Aparently your not supposed to eat anything within 90 minutes of going to the gym. However, I base that on going to the gym after work. If you have a big meal before going to the gym, you spend the whole time burning the contents of your stomach when you could be burning fat or building muscle. At the same time if you dont have something to eat in the mornings before going to the gym you wont have all that much energy. Maybe someone else can shed some light on this. <br />
<br />
Also, after the gym you are supposed to have a serve of hi-GI carbs to give your body an insulin spike. http://www.betterbodyjournal.com/blog/the-careful-art-of-insulin-spikes is a good link describing it.
