So, still working at home, and with kids being back at school and wife busy with a few other things, I've had plenty of time to listen to background music ... and I decided to do another back catalogue listen ... this time, it's one of my all time favourites ... Faith No More. Ranked from best to worst.

King For A Day, Fool For A Lifetime. My all-time favourite album. Probably not my first pick to listen to right now, but I had the cassette in the 88 Hilux in my last year at school and never took it out / changed. Such a diverse range of songs but somehow or other the album just works. And fully works. Hard to pick a top track from - probably would be Gentle Art, just edging out the title track & Get Out.

Angel Dust I expect most would put The Real Thing above it, and it's not an argument I'll take on. I just personally love Angel Dust. Very heavy in places (Caffeine / Jizzlobber), very light in others and some cracking almost poppy tunes in other places. The diversity across FNM albums is pretty insane & Angel Dust is no exception. Top Track - Caffeine, with highly recommended to Everythings Ruined.

The Real Thing Absolute landmark album for the band, with their only real single hit - Epic - on it. But it's a proper old school album which flows well. Hard to believe that they wrote the music and then basically gave new bandmate Patton a couple of weeks to write lyrics and sing over it. With no input on the music. You can't really expect that from anybody. Top track is again like choosing your favourite offspring, but it has to be the title track, The Real Thing. Shout outs to Woodpecker, Epic & Zombie Eaters.

Album Of The Year Once again, full of a range of diverse styles but doesn't seem quite carry of it off as well. Almost a slightly tired feeling listening to it. Perhaps for me, it was the inability for it to match King For A Day, being their follow up. Dont' get me wrong .. its' still in probably my top 50 albums ... but just not as good as the previous 3. Top tracks - Last Cup Of Sorrow & Helpless. Stripsearch is always turned up when it comes on too

Sol Invictus Not sure if this was really an album or a bunch of middle aged blokes fucking about thinking about the olds times. I actually quite like it, but it's quite hard to give it a proper review. Worthy of being a FNM album ... but that's about it really. Top Track - Black Friday for me, although I do enjoy Superhero & Motherfucker. I always enjoy singing the chorus of that when need to speak to somebody whose being shit.

I've never made any secret of how much I rate Mike Patton as a singer. Subsequently, it should come as no surprise that the two bottom albums are those with Mosley as the singer. To me, he just sounds like he's sulking as he sings. Having said that, I really doubt that the band would have appealed to me as much without Gould, and to a lesser extent, Bordin. You'll struggle to find a bass player in any band who doesn't rate Gould as one of their influences. I do like Jim Martin too, although he didn't feature on my favourite and that's not a co-incidence.

Introduce Yourself Earlier FNM was compared very heavily to the Red Hot Chili Peppers and this album clearly shows why. I just don't like Mosley vocals so this and We Care A Lot, are not really on my rotations, where as the other albums are. We Care A Lot is an all-time classic though and that shouldn't be overlooked.

We Care A Lot Pretty old and dated now, with fair comparisons to earlier RHCP once again. Not for me, although I don't mind Mark Bowen.

Mark Bowen, the live version with Patton in Germany on the Angel Dust bonus 4 track EP is great. Would love for them to have done a studio version with Mike as they did with As The Worm Turns.

For the record, my favourite album is far and away Angel Dust. It really is them at their peak. Seeing as you’re into rankings I’d then go 2) The Real Thing 3) King For a Day 4) You Fat Bastards 5) Album of the Year.

Anyone seen Patton live? I’ve seen FNM twice. Fantomas, at The Powerstation (straight after attending ABs v Boks at Eden Park in 2002 - Patton dedicated a song to the All Blacks and started crapping on about “I know what you do down in those rucks with your boots up each other’s asses. What’s his name? What’s his name? - I think he was talking about Hopoate). And Mr Bungle in 2000.

Southland win 10-6. Magpies were average as fudge.

16-10 actually. Left another 10 points out there too. Nice to still be strong enough to get the victory, even when rusty and error ridden.
