    Springboks vs France

SARU so desperate for sponsorship, they accepted a deal with MTN - thereby damaging their relationship with long time Super Rugby sponsor Vodacom, who is a direct rival to MTN.

At least the Jersey looks amazing though:

SARU must be desperate for cash to allow that yellow blob. Why it isn't inverted with the letters MTN in yellow god only knows.

French are without their players from the T14 final, and if the boks manage to limp past the tired and depleted frogs, there will be a painful few more months of rugby articles about Bok Rugby's "New Dawn" and Alastair's "Road to Redemption".

..Until the Rugby Championship results send them scrambling again, that is.

In other (rather embarrassing) news, South Africa is now ranked 7th, the lowest since the ranking system was implemented in 03.

Coetzee is bullish on the Boks chances since this year, he's had time to plan where they are going to be training, and how their bags are being transported:

"I'm done with the planning. The logistical planning of where we're flying with which airlines we're using and where we're staying ... that's done," Coetzee said, adding that he even knows where the Boks are training on their European tour in November.

I think that is the job description of a logistics manager, but that's just me..

Interesting thing is that the RWC19 draw is taking place on 10 May, before the Boks have had a chance to show the world how well Coetzee's logistics planning has revolutionised his teams play. This means we're effectively locked ourselves into the pool of death. Though with the aggressive transformation targets set out by Razzmatazz we're probably not going to be a force anyways:

    Rugby

The document forecasts that 60% of full-time staff will be black South Africans by 2018.
The document forecasts that 45% of national players (male) will be black South Africans by 2018.
The document forecasts that 80% of national players (female) will be black South Africans by 2018.
The document forecasts that 60% of nationally accredited coaches will be black South Africans by 2018.

    Athletics

ASA will have to assign 10% more African women to its executive board committees within the next year.
The document forecasts that 84% of males will be black South Africans by 2018.
The document forecasts that 40% of females will be black South Africans by 2018.
The document forecasts that 100% of coaches will be black South Africans by 2018.
The document forecasts that 84% of physiotherapists will be black South Africans by 2018.

    Soccer

The sports ministry actually expects black representation to decrease in South African football by 2018 with full time black staff members decreasing from 94% in 2014 to 70% by December 2018.
Likewise it expects a drop from 88% in 2014 to 75% of Black African players which will be made up for by a 13% increase in “generic black” players.
There is however expected to be a 5% increase across the board in female black players at the national level.

    Cricket

In September 2016, the CSA declared that with immediate effect the national team to play an average minimum of 54% black players and average minimum of 18% black African players over the season.
The targets will be an average of the cumulative representation across all three formats in a season.
The document forecasts that 60% of males will be generic black South Africans by 2019.
It also notes that that 60% of female cricket players will be generic black South Africans by 2019.
The document has also forecast that 80% of South African umpires will be black by 2020.

    Netball

The document forecasts that 85% of full-time staff will be black South Africans by 2018.
It forecasta that 95% of male netball players will be black by 2018.
It forecasts that 71% of male netball players will be black by 2018.
It has also forecast that 80% of coaches will be black by 2018.
In order to reach a number of those targets serious changes will need to be made, and you can’t help but feel that various sporting codes are really going to struggle.

Whether or not Afriforum have any success in their endeavours remains to be seen, but interesting times ahead for South African sport.

    Couple thoughts:

    1. I'm surprised that the coaching succession plan which the 15's follow was not followed.
    2. Would swap our good 14 minute performances for your 80 min ones any day.

People berated Heyneke for his "backward" (read: conservative) rugby. Stats show his team was scoring more tries than previous boks teams coached by others.

Then they go and employ the kingpin of conservative rugby from the Stormers.

SA Rugby are still paying out Heyneke, will most likely have to pay out Alistair if they want to get rid of him.

Add to that the fact that SA Rugby's anchor sponsor pulled out over the Transformation row. Where is SA Rugby going to find a quality coach on:

    1. A shoestring budget, and
    2. Who doesnt mind jeopardizing their career by having one hand tied behind his back when it comes to coach and team selections.

Our minister of sport has done a wonderful job executing his plan of dismantling SA Rugby, and brought it on par with SA football.

    RIP SA Rugby

@Damo said in All Pinks vs Boks - Christchurch:

@broughie said in All Pinks vs Boks - Christchurch:

@mariner4life you mean those not picked because of quotas or injury?

I think the quota thing is overdone.

On another forum the question was asked who was picked on race and should not be there and there was only one player identified (reserve hooker Bongi), and even he had been dropped for the game against the AB's. Arguably he wasn't a quota player but a project player they were hoping to get some experience

There really aren't many (if any) players who are disadvantaged due to the quota system.

Does anyone else know of any player in the Boks who is there on race and not on merit?

De Allende has had a terrible season with the Lions Center outplaying him all season. Oupa Mohoje is another quota player.

More importantly however is the fact that implementing quotas means that you will not attract top coaching talent. This is why our Bok attacking coach is this guy:

    Mzwandile Stick - Wikipedia

    Mzwandile Stick - Wikipedia
    CV:

    2013 Eastern Province U21(assistant)
2014–2015 Eastern Province Kings (Vodacom Cup head coach) -Vodacom cup is one tier below Currie Cup
2014–2015 Eastern Province U19 (head coach)
    2016 Kings (assistant)
    2016–present South Africa (assistant)

The problem with selecting quota's (other than the obvious of keeping out more talented players) is that they then clog up the development of up and coming talent ie: Malcolm Marx cannot get a go off the bench because of Bongi keeping up the numbers.

The point I was making earlier in this thread is that the All Blacks are the best team on this planet, and these policies are not helping us compete.
