We are going to absolutely dominate this World Cup cycle under this new coaching group.

I'm hopeful but more cautious given the lack of test experience in the coaching group

Hansen coached Canada's attack for a year (2014) and Japan's defense for 3 years (2019-22)

Razor coached Brazil as part of Canterbury rugby's partnership back in 2013.

Ryan spent two years coaching Fiji's forwards, joined All Blacks 2022.

McDonald coached the All Black's XV for 2 years.

I'll be interested to see how the ABs defend.

Don't wonder - when Japan topped their pool in 2019 Scott Hansen was the defense coach, now he's All Blacks defense coach.

We are going to absolutely dominate this World Cup cycle under this new coaching group.

Just going off the GF game, Hoskins work around the beakdown & the tight stuff was not great for an AB's loosie. Wallace on the hand even though he was on losing end, the kid was hitting the breakdowns and making solid contact with and without the ball.

Can you show the social media posts showing he has a poor attitude?

look at the caption of his post.

He could earn far more playing for a French club and could still represent Fiji in a years time - as his last test was Nov 2022, we are flush with loose forwards, it's probably the position we'd be least concerned about, we don't exactly need him do we?

Wallace-Sititi looks a far better prospect than Sotutu at test level and he's only 21.

It's clear from the eye test Sititi is going to be a test animal. Sotutu is a show-pony.

These coaches know who is mentally consistent and focused over a whole season or more. They aren't all that interested in a highlights reel.

Yeah true, Bell and Sititi have definitely shown that across their storied careers.

except they are younger (22, 21) and will get much better, Sotutu is nearly 27.

May get better. Sotutu doesn't exactly have a foot in the grave. As Duluth said, the stats don't lie, he was one of the top loosies in SR. It's personal

he has a poor attitude judging by his social media and refused to answer Jason Ryan's phone calls last year, it's time to move on, he's overrated and always has been.

@nostrildamus 2022 and he was the worst performing loose forward for the All Blacks that season, by a sizeable margin.

I was going to come here and troll hard out, and there is so much rich, fertile soil here to do it

I'm on record over a few years now calling Hoskins Sotutu the best all-round loose forward in the country.

What planet do you reside on bro?

Hoskins is a great attacking number 8, but has been proven ineffective at test level time and time again, he just is isn't effective on both sides of the ball, drifts in and out of matches and doesn't make a good enough impact on defense - almost like the description you were giving of Savea..

Hoskin's latest Instagram post says it all. Clearly not impressed with his non selection.

Gee - he looks considerably lanky for a test number 8.

Perofeta is interesting. I can't see why. Someone mentioned above he's been good the last couple of weeks, but then Leon said it was picked before the finals so...

I don't see our fullbacks as being a spot the opposition will worry about too much

He wasn’t good in the final, in fact he was the most ineffective Blues back on Saturday. Lam, Ioane and Plummer were the standouts. I’d be happier if they picked Plummer as a 10 and Beauden as a fullback. But Perofeta over Love is just baffling.

Leon McDonald tortured us with his shithouse Blues selections for 4 years & now we are forced to endure another 4...

    Haven't we suffered enough....@Canes4life?

@Canes4life the only thing I’ll say about Perofeta is that he was playing excellent footy under Rangi last season and given he has AB experience I think they will back themselves to try and get that best out of him.

That's a reach. He was playing about the same as he was this season (when he wasn't injured) and his test experience is fuck all. A japan test where he looked poor and 30 seconds in another test

Leon McDonald was the outside back selector, Perofeta over Love was obviously his call & it's the only selection of the 32 that I disagree with - which isn't surprising because McDonald's selections at the Blues were consistently terrible.

@Chris so is that an 18 round regular season if you factor in 2 byes?

It would have to be to make it work, not locked in the preferred version so I hear probably will end up being tweaked maybe to 5 teams played twice to pull back the weeks they can fit in.
They are keen to start the comp a week earlier than normal.

Why do you need byes with 11 teams, fuck that. Not required, rotate if required

The byes aren't in addition to the forced bye.

With an 11 team league every team with have at least one bye every 11 weeks.

    That's enough

If you have more than an 11 week regular season you have to have multiple byes with an 11 team comp in order for teams to play the same number of games.

and that's why I have a real gripe with the Rebels getting dissolved by moronic ARU, 1 step forwards - 2 steps back...

So ENS to fullback, Rona on the wing & Coombes-Fabling on the bench

funnily enough i rate the Chiefs chances higher now, Rona and ENS are more rounded players & stronger defenders than Stevenson, will probably end up proving to be more important factor for these knockouts.

The rumour going around in Australia is 16 rd comp starting a week earlier.
Which would mean 16 games in the regular season each team would play 6 teams twice.

@Chris that doesn't add up, 16 rounds comes to 14 games with only 11 teams, as 1 team has to sit out each round, and then you have the 3 current bye rounds included to that...

This is a cool story in the lead up to this game. At the beginning of the season Laidlaw put a Canes 10 and 15 jersey on the ground and told Love to choose one. Love obviously chose the 15 jersey and the rest is history but what a play by Laidlaw to make a player choose.

Doesn't say much for the coaches back then

"I feel, when I first came into the Hurricanes, I got cluttered with too much information," he admitted. "I was trying to be a player I wasn't, but the last eight months, I've figured out where I stand and what I want to achieve, and the player I want to be known as.

    Sums up Holland really.

What do you mean? you been coached by him yourself? or you have heard some accounts from players?
