I was actually going to float the Carter as a wing/halfback option last night - this tour seems like the perfect place to do it.

The South African teams are viewed with some serious rose tinted glasses by not only South Africans but NZers.
They were quite poor in the closing years of the competition as we knew it (Lions aside I guess), with the overseas selection rule hurting their franchises as well as just generally not being as good as the NZ sides.

It’s a bit back to the future but I’d only allow teams to contract max 28 players, then I’d have a draft like the old early days of Super to fill up the remaining (8-10?) spots on their roster.
That would create some jeopardy and create some genuine competition between franchises for players.
I think it would allow franchises to retain their best players still but force them to make decisions about where they ‘stockpile’ any depth.
Very highly rated - wouldn’t look out of place in an ABs set up in the future. Don’t judge him on his league record - seems to have found his niche.

I think it’s already there. Especially at international level. Trying to search for perfection when that’s just not possible.
I’d honestly look to get rid of the TMO other than for groundings or in touch in goal.
If you’ve got to the in goal without something clear and obvious to the three goddamn sets of eyes on the park then you should get the benefit of the doubt your work to get there was legal.
