I was bullied at school, a later developer, i was tiny until i turned about 16, and even then i was just a taller rake. Do i blame NZ for this, or does it cloud my judgement of the country? Most of that bullshit she craps on about could be said about any western country in the world, and a lot worse could be said about most of them. Her points had just enough element of truth in them to get some onside (especially the anti-rugby brigade), but there were some fucking loooong bows drawn to flesh out the points. Some of it was just laughably wrong.
Is bullying bad? yes. Do some kids struggle with their upbringing? yes. Is this problem a particular NZ one? Fuck no.
The whole tone of the article seems to be if she'd grown up anywhere else other than the hellhole some refer to as Godzone she would have had such an amazing life. That's what's gotten us here annoyed and ripping the shit out of her.

Precisely. Particularly true if you've had the fortune to spend time growing up anywhere else. I'm not writing articles disparaging entire countries.

Fuck yeah, bullying isn't unique to NZ or small towns. I had some horrid high school years because I was a short bookish surfboard (nature was very bloody tardy, but more than made up for it) but there isn't a single high school in the world where I wouldn't have gotten shit. That is part of the 'joy' of being a teen.

Mind you, as M4L says there's enough there to generate "debate" and other like minded fuckwits can add fuel to the fire about our "boozy rugby culture" and how we should focus far more on the arts than we do ( which is fucken joke to bring up, but someone will, because there's NZ music month, Festival of the Arts, Comedy fest etc )

Dragnetted? The thread title is describes stuff as shit and the discussion is about the shit they post masquerading as news. We could talk about the trend over the past few months of them putting up headlines that make you think they are in NZ but when you click on them it turns out they are on the other side of the world. I'm guessing people are getting gunshy of clicking on those so they've gone to defcon 5 and got someone to write six miserable articles about NZ, next week they'll have someone rebutting it .
Anyway, if you've seen a photo of her would you?My point being it was a pretty blatent trolling exercise. She (and stuff) went fishing and caught TSF.

fucking this! what else have we got to froth about? The warriors are done for the year (in predictable fashion), there's no cricket, the RC is dangerously close to being a 3-continent AB world cup victory parade, so we found this. MR even helped out by taking the opposite view.

Reality of media these days, all media, is that nobody makes a point without going totally over the top. Nobody clicks on a fence sitting headline, nobody cares about a fence sitting position.
I also think if you look at the comments written before and after my little spiel/tantrum there is quite a change in attitude too.

No I disagree with your basic premise, which appears to be we should just accept hatred and lies as long as there is something remotely associated to a truth also hiding in there somewhere... no matter how vaguely. I am still of the school of thought that if someone talks bollox and makes stuff up which is insulting to large groups of innocent people.. that person should be told to fuck off until they can make their point in a better way. Just because she claims to have a shit childhood... that doesnt actually give her permission to slag off every male in NZ. That sort of blanket male blaming leading to a society where young men commit suicide in record numbers every fucking year, mysandric bitches like her that add to the narrative that all young men are worthless pieces of women hating crap ...just make the situation worse.
Men need to grow a fucking back bone and stop putting up with sort of narrative, if a similar article to this was written about females and clumping them all together.. the reaction would be overwhelming from the sisterhood.. it would probably be on One News.People are not rejecting all the claims she makes, but they are saying that it is layered in sop much shit and hatred that it makes the entire article a waste of time and one that should be deleted, or at least ignored.

@Baron-Silas-Greenback Fair points but that comes down to my second point. Would anybody have read / discussed / thought about aspects of this article if there wasn't the shock (i.e bullshit) factor? Fair enough people are calling the but some of the comments before I called it out were right up the alley of the stuff she is writing about.

My best mates, within days of arriving on their OE went across to Calais and then headed toward Paris.
While there they pulled into a petrol station to ask for directions, a fella who was in the petrol station offered to show them where to go.
Turned out he was a local thug, son of some Mafia type....pulled a gun on my mates, mate them drive around to a bunch of ATMs to withdraw money, worse still (to my mate) was he stole his brand new AB jersey) eventually got them to drop him off at some dodgy looking placem, telling them it would be in their interests to not speak to the police...
Moral of the story?
Small towns in France are run by criminals!
