    Occasionally get this sort of shit in the holiday period. Once had a fluffybunny in a car slowly move forward, pushing me into the hedge and running over my foot.

    Cornish hedgerows are actually stone walls and these seem to have been recently trimmed so that's the actual width.

    You can sometimes push into the vegetation but not always.

    @Kruse

    Honda make great bikes like my CB550X, but should stick to making great bikes and not crap 500cc cruisers...

    Yeah - I can appreciate that they are great engineers. But nothing at all "sexy" about a single one of their bikes, in my opinion. At least they're not Yamaha - what's that god-awful Yamaha cruiser? Virago? Ugh.
    Maybe I'm just racist. Although my first bike was a Kawasaki. Bought solely because of how ugly it was, to be fair.

    US of fucking A....
    I'm a 40-something year old man, with drivers licence (including motorcycle) from both NZ and UK - having ridden in over 20 different countries - wanting to ride a motorcycle here, and I need to...

    • Do a theory test
    • Do a practical test driving a car
      • Now have my equivalent of a Learner's Licence
    • Do another theory test
    • Do another practical test driving a car
      • Now have my Driver's Licence
    • Do another theory test for motorcycle
    • Do a practical test on motorcyle
      • Now have my equivalent of a UK CBT
    • Do another theory test for motorcycle
    • Do another practical test on motorcycle
      • Finally - proper motorcycle 'endorsement', buy a bike, figure out insurance and shit

    OR - go up to Canada for a week or so - convince them I'm a resident (not sure what I'd need for that), and swap my NZ or UK licence for a Canadian one... come back to US, and swap Canadian licence for Washington-State one.

    @Kruse

    I had exactly the same problem in the UK decades ago.

    • Ride my BMW R100S legally until the International licence runs out.
    • Find out I couldn't swap my licence as I'd been in the country over a year
    • Take and pass theory test
    • Buy a 100cc Suzuki to take my Learner Test
    • Pass Learner Test
    • Then find the fuckers change the rules so I could have swapped my licence

    All the while, I was able to get on a racetrack as I had an FIM Racing licence....*

    '*Not as sexy as it sounds. Pretty easy in those days

    Shit - I got it lucky with the UK/NZ...

    • Drivers licence from NZ - moved to UK, got a UK drivers licence based on that - no problem
    • Did UK CBT / motorcycle licence tests
    • Next trip back to NZ - got motorcycle added to NZ licence based on UK licence - no problem

    That's probably why I'm so frustrated with the US. I'm really tempted to go the via-Canada route - but don't know if I get there whether they'd want proof-of-residence or not.
    Finally got around to registering with local driver's school the other night... to do a 1-hour initial "driving lesson" - and based on that, will decide on which option is worth pursuing. (Did kinda want to do some training anyway - as just walking around in my first week - saw some intersections/signs - and thought "I've got no fucking idea what those signs mean, or what's supposed to happen there")
    Other problem is - the closest place to do motorcycle training/testing - is fucking 2.5 hours away by public transport.

    I didn't. Imagine seeing this sort of shit for the first time on a bike in the UK.

    @Victor-Meldrew Yeah - that's fucked. Multi-lane mini-roundabouts? Not covered in CBT.
    I came across one of those "roundabout of roundabouts" - maybe the one in Swindon? - once, without being aware of it ... they hadn't covered THAT in the CBT neither. (Actually - is that what that photo is? I seem to recall the multi-miniroundabouts being much closer together - seamlessly merging)

    Nasty double mini roundabout in Cornwall was always part of the test.
