"LIV Rugby"?

Hmmm, obviously it gets laughed at now, but over time it could become a threat to the game.
T20 cricket got laughed at originally, now look at it.

Yeah GL with that, it ain't tennis or golf where you only need a handful of players, and punters that support players rather than teams
im not so sure, i see more and more new fans talking about players rather than teams, we're a couple of decades into the superstar rugby player....

Who are these players you speak of?
-
@MiketheSnow not saying im one to follow a player over a team but Jonu is often mentioned as one of the first true global super star players...and yeah, ive talked to casual fans that have changed whole they follow because a player has moved

It's a handful at best
It's not like football
-
@MiketheSnow we may know theyre not super stars....but if new fans are looking at it like they might other sports.....it would a silly to just take a "you're supporting rugby wrong" approach

Sure, but there aren't 360 million Americans keen on rugby to begin with who would naturally flow to a more entertaining version of the game.
-
@mikedogz What I've heard about R360.
Saudi money.
Mike Tindall is involved. The agent Mark Spoors is involved too. So too is our old friend Stephen Jones of the Sunday Times.
Some disgruntled NRL players will sign.
Some players based in England but outside the national squad will sign.
It might be part of the reason why France have rotated so many players this year.I doubt it will get off the ground.

If RTS is a big signing then it's already dead in the water.
I'll be more convinced once they sign big name forwards and competent coaches.

Yeah that's what I said in a discussion, but it was raised that might not be a relatively big contract if it's silly money floating about.

I think it's a fantastic idea.
However, they'll need to associate the teams with destinations, so given the likely locations, what would be a good name for the English team? Maybe the Red Roses? For an Australian team, hmm, what fits, maybe Wallabies? In NZ, I dunno, maybe All Blacks.
Then of course, they'll need to figure out how to contract in and out of those, so maybe they'll need domestic competitions to further tie fans to those teams and help bring talent through. Of course, you can just poach players but to reduce that, maybe a five year stand down when switching? Should be easy enough.
Then of course they'll need to figure out what to do to make more money. Probably they'll need a tournament, but it can't be held too often, maybe every four years? And, of course, because it's American they can just dub the winning team the world champions.
