Stead to ChatGPT - "Who should bat at 6 for NZ in this test"?

"Tom Blundell has batted at 6 for New Zealand for the past three years...."

"Aha - you bewdy, I thought it might be Tom"!

Oh perfect, Southee can come out and smoke 77 in a hopeless defeat, thus completing the circle of his career. Just a shame he didn't manage a 5fer as well. No need to select him in Hamilton.

I'll be amazed if they don't pick him for Hamilton in his final test.

TBH - I'm quite supportive of it. The series will be gone - may as well give him a respectful farewell.

If they were going to leave him out - this was the test to do it.

It would be madness not to bring Will Young in for Conway. Blundell should need a hundred here to save himself - but, we don't have a back-up keeper in the squad (it's presumably Conway) so I'll be pretty surprised if they bring someone else in.

Couldn’t really ask for a worse set of performances following India.

    Ravindra gone.

He is far more style than substance overall

To think there's another humiliation to come. From a three-nil whitewash in India to a three-nil whitewash at home.

Carse comes on and takes a terrific caught and bowled.

    Latham gone, 33/3.

Provided Ravindra and Mitchell each get a double ton we should do this pretty comfortably

Doesn't have to be Ravindra and Mitchell to get the double tons you mention.

Phillips and Blundell, with some chip-ins from the lower order will be fine also.

Blundell saving us from an absolute humiliation.

Mitch Hay can unpack his suitcase and if Phillips hoped to bat at 6 anytime soon he can put those thoughts from his mind.

The way he got out he's more likely to move down in the order!

Sounds like a general failure from all concerned

    That’s enough from you.

Your team lost the first test to a team that lost 3-0 at home to a team that is about to get hammered 2-0 at home.

So basically your team sux way more than ours.

England > New Zealand > India > Australia

Blundell playing a career saving knock in a batting effort where there is absolutely no pressure. Great. Another 10 tests for him.

These guys are inconsistent flakes. Ravindra will be the next to lose an IPL contract at this rate of up and down performance. And Conway will be a walking wicket in Plunket Shield by the end of the season. Dire.

Was gonna say - is Blundell the anti-Watling - I.e. scores runs when it doesn't matter

Tough gig replacing a bunch of all-time NZ greats. We had the same 'joy' in the 1990s as well, particularly after the world cup.

    Well done Blundell.

Massive pressure on his place in the side and this won’t mean much in terms of the result but this has been a bloody nice innings.

May as well go on for 200 now.

    Well done, Blundell.

Some shades of his early series vs Australia when pretty much everyone else was falling apart. (not Wags).
