I am assuming it is Salabiau. He's still young and was playing for the Waikato U19s before making his debut in the NPC playoffs. He's very quick. He also played for the Fiji U20s at the WC.
If he is U20 and sticking around down there. I wonder if they will try and get him to play for the Landers U20s.

Salabiau was a starting winger for the Chiefs U20s this year before missing the final through injury. I wouldn't want to lose him.

Article on TK Howden (in ODT) which says he will likely play a bit of lock during the season. Will be interesting to see who gets the six shirt and who is the lock replacement out of him and Haig

I'm gutted we lost Howden, wish we gave him more game time over the aging Shields but with Tuifua also coming through I guess it's not the end of the world. Great pick up for the Landers IMO. With more game time I think he will be pushing for AB selection in the next year or so.

@SouthernMann Not sure I would go that far. More said he will do what the team needs, but there was no direct indication he will play lock.
Howden thinks of himself as a specialist blindside but he played a bit of lock in his younger days and is aware he might spend some time in the Highlanders’ second row.
"Jamie wants a fast, versatile team. If I have to push to lock, so be it. I’m down here to just to be on the rugby field and playing good footy."

I think you are being a bit pedantic. Joseph has talked about his versatility. We only have two specialist locks. He will spend time there.

Would be very surprising if true, as Jamie lives in Dunedin and family is all based there, he also didn't continue with Japan due to these reasons, would have to be something controversial at HQ going on.

Him and Rog Clark are good mates from all accounts, and he has mates and old team mates on the board/ownership group. He'd also be on an NZR salary now too as the head coach.

very glad to see nothing seems to have come from it, just popped up on the socials whilst travelling over the break so didn't get the chance to read the whole thing, just the lede, certainly swinging for the fences as far as wild offseason rumour
