@antipodean
Yeah, it's okay.
I love how low he has to go to make a crust.
Reminds me a bit of David Brent's shitter moments in Extras and The Office Xmas Special (though not as funny) -
Aaron Rodgers: Enigma
I've been getting into the American Football thing a little since watching Last Chance U so this came up in recommendations. Three episodes of about a hour (?) each, chronicling the career of Rodgers.
Besides the whole COVID controversy, it really drives home how much players - particularly QBs - are judged by Super Bowls.
I think one of his coaches summed it up best - to paraphrase: "They're given a level of credit they don't deserve for the wins, and criticism they don't deserve for the losses".
Anyway I thought it was a good use of time. Really interesting dude even if I don't agree with his stance on vaccines etc.

I thought these were both really good.
Crashing I found funny. It's light hearted, amusing and i enjoyed it.I'm dying up here, I thought was one of best things on tv at the time. It's set in the LA comedy scene of the 70's, and felt like the characters were based on real people.
I'd definitely recommend it, it was my cup of tea. -

Great writing, great acting

I think for the most part they were. I think most of the main characters had an analog from the real comedy scene. When it was out I read an article which showed who each character was based on but I can't remember where I read it now.

Watched “Sexy Beast” on paramount +, rather good prequel of earlier movie. Followed up by watching the original movie. Kingsley and Winstone were outstanding, but also thought Paquin’s other half was a very good young Teddy Bass
British crime series and movie that’s all about preparation, preparation, preparation3.5 pornstars out of 5 heists

I enjoyed it too but from the movie I always assumed Don was way older than Gal ? Not sure they got that bit right ?
The movie showed Don as an unhinged psycho that Gal was afraid of whereas the TV series showed Gal to be the master planner and Don to be his sort of henchman ?

Don in the series was clearly unhinged but I didn't expect to see him as a major planner as he was in the movie either. Gal always wanted out but you're right came across as the real mastermind and the only one who could calm Don down, when we was about to lose it. I guess there is a chance that without Gal around and under Teddy's leadership he gets even more deranged.
Still enjoyable series though

I've started watching this. Gritty and violent.
How do you rate it so far? I was going to start this last night before getting distracted.

I watched the first two episodes last night, and have enjoyed it so far. It reminded me of The Revenant, before realising it was written by the same guy. Only six episodes.

House of the Dragon S2
Anyone watched? might have missed the discussion, watched a few episodes on a flight to the US over the xmas break, seems to be carrying on in the same vein, ie better than i thought it was going to be...but ultimately we know how its going to end up...so only kind of finishing to see what happens to individuals

On first season of both these shows.
Both pretty good.Amusing first three episodes, but no stomach cramping laughs yet.
The joke about the discount at the dollar store was bloody good.
Finished the three seasons. It's worth a watch. Funny, big name cameos, ends well.

And Amy Schumer as unfunny as ever.

House of the Dragon S2
Anyone watched?
I watched as the episodes were released. It's a decent watch and S3 (scheduled for 2026) looks to be where the war starts. There are meant to be four seasons.

I watched this on your recommendation, was thinking of doing so anyway but seeing a good review helps. Enjoyed it would probably be the wrong term but it was good and very watchable. As you say, gritty and it made me gen up on the Utah War. Brigham Young, what a fluffybunny eh?
Thought the ending was a bit flat but in truth it was always going to be difficult to end it satisfactorily.
No tits though.

@Catogrande I finished this last night. I was expecting the twist at the end but unsure how it would play out. Yeah, I doubt the Mormons are happy with how they are portrayed. Hypocrites.

@MN5 Charles Dance was a geat villain in The Last Action Hero.
I finished Day of the Jackal last night, agree with most of what has been said, just a good series with plenty of 'yeah right' moments, but thats why I watch this type of shit, good story, plots with holes for buses, but thoroughly enjoyable.
Gotta say was glad when Bianca bought it, man she was an annoying fucking character. I guess she was given the latitude for her fuck ups cos they wanted her to fail initially. The Jackal just needed to remind Dance's character that he follows up unpaid debts, reckon he'd pay up promptly then.
