How much (how long) for this?

I was watching that game today and l it was a scrappy one. Plenty of frustration throughout from the Rockets, not so much at the ref but how the Blazers were making runs. This was the second of a back to back mini series between the teams and the Rockets won easy in the first game.

Fred will likely cop 5-10 games I reckon.

    @ACT-Crusader

It will be interesting to see, actual contact with the ref in this manner, is a road I assume the NBA doesn't want others going down, so I reckon he eats a massive fine and gets more time off than that.

@gt12 he’s playing way too many minutes which in my view is diminishing his output.

JJ needs to start coaching and reduce his time. Some of the other guys just play scared when he’s on.

Now the Lakers lose by 41 to the Heat.

How long before JJ gets the boot?

    aaaaalllllmost halfway through the season.

Teams-wise, Cavs won the "top of the tables" clash yesterday in a game that actually looked like both teams cared., and thus sit top of the tree.

In the East its teh Cavs and the Celtics looking comfy at the top, Knicks bubbling just under, and then a whole lot of teams going nowhere.
The West is a shitfight. OKC are out front by a margin. Then a table pretty much no one would have predicted, Rockets and Grizz sitting nicely, Nuggets not looking complete despite the best player in the world having an unreal season, then like 7 teams hovering around .500 depending on their current draw.

Underperformers? The Suns for sure. Probably the Sixers too (but fuck Embiid).

Player-wise surely Jokic is the MVP again (despite some wanting to give it to SGA).
He's leading the scoring. He's 3rd in rebounds. He's 2nd in assists. Effectively averaging a 31-point triple double. Incredible basketball player.

And it wouldn't be the NBA without a bit of player drama. Shock horror Jimmy Butler is causing problems. Old man wants to continue to be paid large based on legacy i guess, which might work some places, but not in Miami against Pat Riley. So he got himself suspended. And it doesn't look like being solved quickly if he continues to demand trades to specific places. Word is the Suns, which would be hilarious TBF.

Suns are fucked as they need to get rid of Beal, who is the only other player than LBJ to have a no-trade clause. They were so fucking dumb to take on that contract in the first place.

I love Butler, but he's mad to think that he would get paid at Miami under Riley.

I’m giving it to SGA. His stats are amazing, second only to Joker, but I can’t overlook a 9 game win differential . He’s created such a great team there, they play for each other and he’s their clear leader. If they finish anywhere close to their current trajectory of 68 wins, he’s my pick

It’s a two horse race right now and I think it will come down to team records (even though I’m not entirely in on that being a major factor for this award).

If the Bucks make a big push then Giannis comes into the equation too because he is having a massive year also.

Love that Giants has put the 3 away, less than 1 attempt per game now.

Think team record has to be a factor, you can’t miss the playoffs and still claim to be in the race - an individual player has a huge influence on a team so being top 4 in your conference is a must for me

Very good game between the Grizzlies and Rockets, two of the better teams in the West.

Adams played some very good minutes. His screen setting and passing created space and opportunities. Got half a dozen O boards too.

Both of these teams play pretty good D which should hold them in good stead for a run to the playoffs.

All Star voting being bullshit edition 2024/5

How in the actual fuck are Durant and LBJ named as All Star starters over Wemby?
Wemby is sticking up 24/11/4 with 4 blocks and an on/off of 15 (because without him the Spurs stink)
LBJ is averaging less points, less rebounds, more assists, obviously less blocks, and an on/off of -9
Durant has more points than both, less rebounds, same assists and less blocks. on/off of 2

And despite playing for teams with better rosters, the Lakers and Suns only have a couple more wins than the Spurs.
    It's fucking bullshit.

Steph Curry making it this year is dumb too.

I don’t even know where to start with a response

I guess firstly, it’s the All Star Game?

It’s been a shithouse boring festival of bullshit for the last 20 years, declining every year to levels we never thought possible. It hasn’t been watchable in 2 decades.

Fan voting is the dumbest thing ever, but it doesn’t even matter. Watching these guys jack up 80 3’s and a few alley-oops is worse than watching highlights of women’s soccer.

Stats don’t matter a bit for this.

Hopefully Wemby gets DPOY and an all-NBA - worth so much more than an ASG gig

    @voodoo

I'm trying to think of the last time an All Star game was worth watching. I think back to 90s, maybe early 2000s?

They should do away with the whole thing.

    Trade Deadline looms

Jimmy Butler continues to be a bitch in Miami and i think is indefinitely suspended by the team.

The chat is, he wants to go to the Suns and nowhere else. The Suns have to move someone to make that happens, and word is, that's Bradley Beal. Bradley Beal wants to go somewhere warm with a good team. However it does not appear there are any teams that fit that description that want Bradley Beal.

The surprising one to come up is the Kings moving De'Aaron Fox. The Kings are on a bit of a tear since sacking their coach, and Fox has been there since being drafted. Word is he wants to go to the Spurs to play with Wemby.

The Bulls are going to fire sale everyone because they are already a bit shit, and the only way they keep their first round pick this year out of the Spurs' hands is if it is in the top 10, so the tank is on.
