I cannot believe that the Mavs did not get the other lakers pick.
The Lakers can go get a big man to help Luka now, using that fucking pick.
I just do not fucking get how that pick is not with the Mavs.

They kept Reaves and the picks. Talk about a fire sale. I can't see how the GM keeps his job, surely he must have consulted Mark Cuban? Has he learned nothing since trading away Steve Nash?

Cuban has already said he is out of the picture.

oh, just saw a comment that reads pretty true. How good has the Lakers trade for AD proved? He wins them a ring, and then they flip him for Luka fucking Doncic.

Bontemps (Hoop collective) said that Luka entered the season as the bookie favourite for MVP and has now been traded (secretly) before the trade deadline. That's fucking wild.

Sure, but who fucking cares about this year if you're the Lakers? LeBron is on the way out (maybe sooner than you think), and then you've got $50m in salary back and 10 years of Luka!!!

Lakers get the attention for good fortune/arsey luck, but the Spurs have an impressive run of their own too. Mainly winning draft lotteries, rather than being the flame to superstar moths, but still.

yep, won the lottery 3 times, which is equal third. More importantly we turned those lottery wins in to David Robinson, Tim Duncan, and Wemby. That's a pretty handy hit rate.

And as much as you can laud smart moves by Buford et al (Kawhi being the best) those were three very obvious generational #1 picks.

    @barbarian

Can't argue with the Spurs choosing the generational players,, but the Bulls were the ones who won the draft in 1987 (Robinson).

Krause was a fluffybunny, but at least he was a smart fluffybunny, unlike this fuckstain Harrison.

Sure they got the Admiral and Tim Duncan. But their scouting was impressive, getting other guys like Parker and Ginobili, and of course Leonard

Ah I read he sold the majority stake to some casino magnate in 2023. Has no input into team management matters anymore.

Who knows, maybe AD is the missing piece. But if Dallas don't win it all within a year or two there will be no shortage of people happy to run Harrison out of town

If they don't win this year or next, he won't be in town to find out.

I'll accept the choice if we win this year or next. But, if we don't, then we've lost 10 years of being a potential challenger.

Luka is the only 5-time all NBA player under 30 (who is still active) and they traded him. He's only 25!

That's either mad or he's cooked.

Bontemps called it the biggest short in NBA history. We'll see whether he's Lehman Brothers or Morgan Stanley.

So if Dallas win the title this year or next you will accept 10 down years? Either way the GM is going to be fired, with or without a ring

If you win a ring this year the trade will be rightfully lauded as genius.

The issue to me is that Dallas will not actually win a ring this year, or any year. So the above scenario is purely hypothetical. Because it was a horrible trade made by a moron.
