@MN5 they tried to make it something mystical, like the one ring or somethign...it wanted to be found again (the rest of canon tends to treat them as tools, important and powerful tools)...and then at the end of the same movie luke throws it away.......
hell, i could have been convince if they had committed, like the old japanese legend that a sword gains a soul of its own after 100 years, thats why family swords are so revered...make it something...but they didn't
Yeah instead some stupid Alien with bumholes for eyes finds it and gives a vague response that is never cleared up.
We also never found out what exactly Finn wanted to say to Rey either although it was a welome change from him screaming her name every five seconds.
-
@MN5 it should have been an unidentified lightsaber that "called to her"...later reviled as Palpatine's (i think only real super nerds would be able to identify it out of context)...but that would suggest that was the plan all along...which i doubt

Clearly time in the desert had fried Obi Wans brain.
Well, that and shitty continuity between the OT and the prequels ( but nothing compared to the terrible writing in the sequels )
Even as a kid I found it damn silly 3PO and R2 strolled through the firing line without a single hit.
That was supposedly Vaders 501st legion too !
My next nerdy idea for a SW movie/show would be the Imperials taking over Tattooine and Stormtroopers running into difficulties trying to cull the herds of Sandpeople.
Disney being Disney of course they'd have to shoehorn a transgender Stormtrooper and some asexual aliens just to keep the new "fans" happy.

So BOBF got infinitely better when it morphed into TM for a couple of episodes.
I can't agree, to me it just made two shows shittier.
You like the sequels more than the prequels though

BOBF annoyed me cos the idea was awesome and whilst it had some terrific action scenes it also had some utter shit too, Christ those kids on bikes were annoying.

What the fuck is the point of everyone keeping on shooting at those machines with the impenetrable force field? It has no effect, retarded.

Yes, because I have taste.
Although I don't like all the sequels, just the first two, the third is a shit show on the level of the prequels.

The sequels are absolutely appallingly written and whoever came up with the story just made it up as they went along.

The bad guys themselves were stupid too, dumb fish faced fuckers.
I did like big black chewie even though his plot armour and recovery was absolutely ridiculous ( like so much of SW these days )

Yet, the prequels are dogshit and they supposedly have one vision, so what are you going to do? Watch the originals, Rogue One, and Andor I suppose.
I do find it funny how many people claim to dislike TFA these days though, it was huge at the time. But then the Disney hate started ...

TFA is easily the best of the bunch.
It basically all turned to shit the moment Han died.
In fact all the OGs with the exception of Lando and Chewie were treated terribly
