Looking to the Champions Trophy, who's our starting side based on these games? I'm tempted to open with Ravindra and Conway. Drop the out of form Latham and move Young down to four. Conway can keep. Or move Conway down to four so we open with a right hand / left hand combination.

We should go with the below.

    1. Conway (WK)
    2. Ravindra
    3. Williamson
    4. Young
    5. Mitchell
    6. Phillips
    7. Bracewell
    8. Santner
    9. Henry
    10. Sears
    11. O'Rourke

As honking as Conway taking the gloves is, I'd argue squeezing Young in at 4 and shifting Mitchell down is worse.

That guys is cricket's answer to David Havili. A solid player, able to fill many roles, but ultimately one who goes missing when the heat really comes on.

Across 31 Test Innings against AUS/SA/IND/ENG he has 3 scores above 60
Across 9 ODI Innings against AUS/SA/IND/ENG he has a high score of 33

Dave is a lot more successful at cricket than rugby, who knew!

What’s the Rugby equivalent of 200 on debut ? Did Havilli manage that ?

Can we get some other equally ridiculous sporting comparisons while we’re at it ?

1 Devon Conway, 2 Will Young, 3 Kane Williamson, 4 Daryl Mitchell, 5 Tom Latham (wk), 6 Glenn Phillips, 7 Michael Bracewell, 8 Mitchell Santner (capt), 9 Jacob Duffy, 10 Nathan Smith, 11 Will O'Rourke

No Henry, no Sears - not desperate to win this one - though, I'm far from convinced Henry, Sears, O'Rourke is our best ODI pace trio. Henry definitely is.

@Chris-B Ben Sears has been ruled out of the tournament due to a hamstring injury.
He is replaced in the Champions Trophy squad by Jacob Duffy.

@Daffy-Jaffy Aha - hadn't heard that, but actually, I'm not too disappointed.

I'm inclined to think Duffy is a better option at present.

@Chris-B That info was from @1kiwi in the Champions Trophy thread below. I agree, I also think Duffy is a better fit.

    46/2 after 8.3 overs.

If you can assume this is another 300+ pitch, that's a good start.

Babar Azam out to a simple caught and bowled by Smith. Babar looked a bit perplexed that it happened.

    57/3

    122/3 after 30.

We're on top, but a good time to use the pressure to grab a couple of wickets.

    165/5 after 38.

    Still travelling well.

Santner and Bracewell very economical... so far!

    Never in doubt.

I can’t believe I’m the first to comment on this win at 8.47am.

Sounds like Mitchell, the much maligned Devon Conway and the even more maligned Tom Latham ( @Virgil would struggle to get his latest score ) got them home. Top stuff.

Is Latham's funk over? Great bowling figures from Santner.

It would be just like NZ to lose the game to Pakistan that really matters.

indicates Latham stood up and helped get us home.Good to see him get some runs under pressure.
    Experience counts sometimes.

Don't get me wrong, it's great to see the likes of Tom and Devon in the runs. We need them firing if we have a chance to win the trophy

Wasn't Latham let off twice by Pakistan? I'd settle down on the pressure of a meaningless warm up 'final'
