I'm not too keen on the original Die Hard so can safely say there's absolutely zero chance I'll be watching this. I found Bruce Willis a bit of a joke as an action hero which is odd considering he's one of the best things in Pulp Fiction in my opinion.
Holy shit.
What does your husband think about that?
He thinks they need another one of these

Cranked out some old-school Keanu over the weekend. If you had to choose between one of Point Break or Speed for having survived the passage of time which would you choose?
Point Break - dated horribly. Keanu cannot act at all, he's truly awful. The story and Swayze are as good as they always have been, but this movie really doesn't feel like it's standing the test of time. It's still a classic though, so it' gets 3 bra's out of 5 ex-presidents.
Speed - Bullock is annoying, but there is solid action from the get go and it never lets up. Keanu plays the hero a bit better too, having matured a bit. And Hopper is a great baddie. I'd probably give it a 3 if was released today, but given it's 22 years old, it's a solid 4.5 saggy Sandra Bullock Tits out of 5 shitty Keanu lines.

Watched the original Jurrasic Park with the boy in the weekend. Wasn't sure if it'd scare him or not (it scared me when I watched it as a kid) but he loved it, got really excited when the T-Rex was trying to eat the kids in the car... perhaps he is too young to fully understand how truly terrifying that scene is.
Still a great movie, very watchable. I was obsessed with it as a kid, had all the merchandise and collected every single one of those cards. Pity the 2nd and 3rd were cake, thankfully the 4th was fucking awesome.

watched three movies over the weekend
Inspired by Nepia, I watched Godfather 1 & 2, will watch 3 sometime this week. Still great movies, full of style and violenceAlso watched Student Services a French movie on SBS on demand (showed up as one of the popular picks) about a young woman who turns to "alternative" means to fund her education. Lets say it was a gripping movie to watch.

I'm on annual leave. Yesterday was spent at a dance championships thing supporting Miss The Aussie - it was 12 fucking hours of mind-numbing shit interspersed with wondering if attractive dance instructor(s) from some other school(s) had legal status or not, and whether I was concealing my unabashed admiration suitably. And whether Mrs TA was in line of sight.
The boy and I were permitted to ditch that shit today, and got to hang out. Its 9PM and the chicks are still on their way home.
So in the grand tradition of dudeness, it was cheese toasties for dinner (Mainland Colby you'll note), followed by a movie.
X-Men Apocalypse was no longer available for rent on Google Play, so fuck those guys.
WarCraft: The Beginning
I found this pretty entertaining to sit down and watch with a 12yo who, like his old man, digs the sword and sorcery gear.
I'm a fan of Travis Fimmel, and the CGI was pretty fucking good. Haven't played Warcraft since the original so didn't have any hangups about the story line or other shit. Things went boom. Skulls were crushed. That's all I need.
3.5 out of 5 tragic deaths.

I guess it's more awkward for me attending those events than you seeing as I don't have any kids.

Awesome, I'll give it a watch. I've played a fair bit of World of Warcraft, the in game story line is all over the place and I never really followed it closely so I don't see that being a problem, just wondered how they'd make a decent movie out of it.

@NTA I'm looking forward to seeing Warcraft myself. Weta are involved in the SFX. And it's got Paula Patton in it.
A couple of movies I watched recently are Criminal and Bastille Day. Criminal stars Kevin Costner playing against type as a death-row inmate who is implanted with the memories of a recently deceased CIA operative in the hope of completing his mission. It might sound far-fetched but it works. A good supporting cast too. 3.5/5.
Bastille Day stars Idris Elba and has a Bourne-like vibe to it. Shot in Paris and unfortunately released the day before Bastille Day, and the attacks in Nice this year. A decent enough action flick but the plot is predictable. 3/5.

Recently watched Bridget Jones' baby. It was ok, much better than the second one, but not nearly as good as the original. 3 granny panties out of 5 music festival shags.
Mike and Dave need wedding dates. Pretty lame really. Adam Devine played the same character he always does, but on the whole, the characters were drawn as such selfish assholes, that it was hard to cheer for any of them. The jokes weren't funny, it was kind of a movie where you just cringe. 2 aura bliss massages out of 5 ecstasy tabs.

A Good Day To Die Hard
In summary: ridiculousness.
In detail: much better when there was no dialogue excluding any line containing the word "motherfucker".
So explosions. Many death. Much crashes.
3 yippe-kai-yays out of 5

@jegga Doesn't like the legendary Die Hard, but likes him in a movie where he gets bound and balled ready for the gimp. Who woulda thought.
Haha, gold.
Seriously though, rates James "camper than a row of tents " Bond over Bourne too? -

Favreau did an amazing job on Jungle Book. This should be cool.

@Mokey I just saw the trailer to that Bridget Jones movie and on the strength of that I'd have to say I'd rather emasculate myself with a rusty gin trap than sit through the rest of it . Also some other actress appears to be playing Zellwegers role now. What's up with that?
Anyway just saw Sully. Directed by Clint Eastwood and starring Tom Hanks, I dont think I need to say anymore . 5 roasted and shredded Canada Geese out of 5.
Vanity fair have written an excellent article about the story http://www.vanityfair.com/culture/2009/06/us_airways200906
Also Canada geese can fuck right off, they shit every ten minutes, breed like rabbits and bring down airliners.

I finally got to see "The Dark Knight Rises" last night (only what, 4 years after the fact?). I didn't have much in the way of expectations, because I seem to remember it receiving a luke-warm reception, and that was after I found "The Dark Knight" to be wildly over-hyped.
And i can see why Batman fans weren't blown away, given Batman is only one of the main characters.
But I thought it was awesome. Bane is a fucking great villain. JGL was really good i thought. I just thought it was a fucking great fun action movie.
Anne Hathaway's ass was positively Trinity-esque in that suit. Seriously, that woman has a fucking smoking body, but there is something wrong with her face.
