Lots of guessing going on in the media at the moment. Rumour here/there everywhere!

The only things we know is that Max is able to get some decent performance out of the car and Lawson isn't. Max will complain about the car being poor if he's not winning races - that is what he is used to & is what can be expected from him. Regardless, Lawson shouldn't be at the back of the pack with a car that somebody else can push for podium's in. He should still be top 10, and able to pass the lesser teams when starting at the back of the pack. Thats on him, and no criticism of the car can change that. All the drivers in before him were able to at least be semi-competitive.

Horner seems to be sympathetic in the media, but I'd trust him on that as far as I can throw him.

Liam has proven himself multiple times to be worthy of a seat in the top echelon of the sport, but perhaps his ceiling is similar to that of Hulkenberg. Time will tell.

From Stuff - From a Dutch paper - with alledged 'multiple sources'. Bloody harsh on Liam, cuthroat, but that's what you are involved in at that level. Luckily for him RB have a junior team, otherwise he'd just be out

The article in De Telegraaf stated that “a top meeting of Red Bull’’ took place in Dubai, where the Thai major shareholder Chalerm Yoovidhya lives. Engine supplier Honda was reported to have been involved in the deal. The Japanese manufacturer supports Tsunoda (24), also in financial terms. De Telegraaf said several sources had confirmed Lawson had been demoted. This followed earlier reports by another Dutch newspaper, De Limburger.
Red Bull is expected to make the news official later this week.

Probably a good move for him. He can race a more forgiving car and hopefully show his stuff with less pressure. Big pressure on Yuki, or whoever they promote to do the business. Of course if that coincides with a major rejig of the car over the next 10 days to make it much more forgiving that would be hugely unfair

Ultimately Red Bull made a mess of the transition, as they did with Albon before it. You wonder if Horner may not be the genius he thinks, and rather is continually saved by Max being a generational talent.

Probably a bit of both. Lawson would have been better served having a full season in the Racing Bulls team, the jump to RB was always going to be tough

Hard to know if this is a fait accompli because of media pressure or regurgitation of one well placed rumour.

Ultimately Red Bull may be best served letting Lawson do one more race. At least that way they can rule out unfamiliarity with the track as a contributing factor.

Agree with that 100% Especially after the chassis mods and the likelihood of more to come before Suzuka

@canefan It seems the car is a dog in many ways and Max has years of experience working with it and some sublime skills as a special talent above the rest.

I guess the reason I would like to see Yuki struggle is just so it shows the car might be a big part of the problem.

Felt weird how little time Liam got in the car over the break. Yuki got some testing at the beginning as I recall and then I remember on one of the team days they basically exclusively ran Max and Liam missed loads of time.

Just feels a shame but fingers crossed for Liam

If they make major mods to the car before Yuki drives it that will create an unfair comparison. But RB will do what they want to suit themselves. There is no doubt the car is a big part of the problem. An interview with Alex Albon was very illuminating. Basically he said it's like playing video games with the sensitivity wound right up to the max (no pun intended)

Red Bull are a hard team to like unless you’re a real fanboi

Yeah 2.5 races doesn't seem like much of a trial period, but then again maybe Liam is happy with the swap? Could be better for everyone, more money for Red Bull despite no improvement in results and if Yuki has the same issues and great for Racing if Liam gets into the groove. Will be funny if he out performs Tsunoda's efforts in the Racing.

Ultimately Red Bull made a mess of the transition, as they did with Albon before it. You wonder if Horner may not be the genius he thinks, and rather is continually saved by Max being a generational talent.

He’s the principle of a team with two 4 time world champs and multiple constructors champs.

He may not be very likable but his results are second to none.

Argument for saved by Newey, but that’s it.

I hope LL doesn't take it too hard, and actually feels some relief about moving to the junior team. Their car is no slug, and he has a great chance to have a strong weekend
