They have put together a really good program. Found the right athletes at the right time.

Women’s comp is similar to when NZ & Fiji dominated the Men’s division back in the day
Probable chance NZ & Australia are going to meet in 95% of the finals
Canada possibly on their day can cause an upset where as the mens it’s pretty much a changing in the guard ,any team can knock anyone off on a given day

Yeah that is what I noticed watching the final highlights - with her speed she could round up almost any break but she just stands there.

How many points is Jorga Miller worth?

          Amazing from her.

          Forget just the tries.

The defenders seem so worried about what she is might do that she just strolls between them. Will be really interesting to see how she goes in 15s since I believe she wants to try to make the World Cup squad.

Miller looked slow in the SF but found another gear in the final. Her strength is her fitness as she just keeps going. Perfect for an openside. I don't see Miller starting in the BFs but she could be useful off the bench.

Levi 2nd try should be called back a penalty for jumping tacklers, but she is fast.

I'd say there's considerable difference leaping over outstretched arms than leaping over someone's torso.

For the same reason the game isn't yet dumb enough to penalise people doing acrobatics diving into the corner to score.

Her lope isn't quick enough to run them in from distance if a winger chooses to chase her but is plenty quick enough from 30m or so with the odd fend thrown in. She could cause some havoc in 15s later in the game if she ranges a bit wider.

There is absolutely no way any sane coach is leaving her on the bench in 15s. She was one of the best players in the FPC when she was 17 or so playing openside before she got injured. Obviously she's only going to have improved 3-4 years on. There are simply very few women's players with that combo of agility/skill/strength. It would be like if Australia left Levi out of their 15s team.

Singapore is a 2-day event so that means there are four pools of three teams, so only two pool matches. Only the group winners progress to the semis.

                      AB7s (Pool D) - USA and Fiji
                      BF7s (Pool A) - China and Brazil

The men have a difficult pool to win.

@Machpants for me Pathways is the major issue
We have already seen the likes of Carter,Tangitau and Fineangofo transition to Super Rugby and Moses Leo head to the NRL
You cant blame them based on money alone , i know for a fact Leo was only on a 50k contract , add in his Harbour which was around 25k its hardly gonna set you up for life

Taking away National 7s was just madness it was still a stepping stone from club 7s to provincial 7s and above
You have also got to look in other places i work with a national touch representive , they have some amazing playmakers and steppers in touch , many BF 7s have come from touch and many NRL playmakers from tag

The next step is to pay them carrier wage which keeps them in 7s programme ..
Argentina put a programme together which will see them dominate the 7s circuit with specialist players that totally understand how the game is played ,they have some wonderful athletes that now how to dominate in the air and breakdown and are totally comfortable with ball in hand.

                                      I saw it.

It was embarrassing seeing the difference between the two sides

AB 7s had plenty of ball but have next to no athletic ability to generate clean line breaks let alone tries

Fiji attack was able to just keep offloading until their superior athletic ability eventually told - time and time again

Regarding the recent thrashing of the NZ men’s team by Fiji. …….They have to be kidding……
Seriously it’s just plain sad regarding the current state of NZ men’s sevens rugby. I watched the game and I’m shocked when I compare the hunger and dominance from previous NZ men’s sides. Surely there has to be a better coaching/player setup than this current administration. The men seem ponderous and clueless in attacking and their defence certainly looks ordinary, they constantly miss tackles and seem very disorganised. Where are the players like DJ Forbes who used to continually monster the breakdown ? We are continuously being outplayed by the other sides and it’s become downright embarrassing. Something needs to be done very soon, there has to be better options.
