My old man saw one of the matches as he was on a male voice choir tour of SA at the time

He and his fellow choristers were on the UN blacklist for singing in SA

Not for singing to white only audiences

Not for singing to black & coloured only audiences

But for having the audacity to sing to mixed race audiences

    How dare they

    Go figure

        Saw that recently.
Didn't realize what pricks half the players were to David Kirk.

Well, anyone who refers to himself as better educated than his teammates as he did runs the risk of coming across like a bit of a dick to be fair so I can see why he may not have been too popular to some

Yeah, I thought the same regarding Kirk, he was a bit up his own arse. His stance was right but he was unlikeable within that. Complete contrast to Buck wha was wrong but very likeable within that. The only guy that really came across as both likeable and right was JK. He was actually quite impressive in that doco.

Kirk was very likeable if you were a Blues fan in the 80s.

Might have a look at this, as someone who lived through these times etc, I think I saw a lot of things about it back then, but may just refresh my memory. Actually had a brother who went on supporter's tour of Cavaliers with Williment travel.

Agreed. The footage of him sitting at the front of the team bus looking sad after the Bledisloe Cup was lost was incredible. It really conveyed a sense of how lonely it feels to lose as an All Black.

I think it was Norm Hewitts book that first alerted me to what kind of guy JK is. Prior to that I always imagined him to be an arrogant piston wristed gibbon judging by how dominant he was on the field. The truth couldn't be further from that. One of my favourite ever NZ sportsmen, the ONLY negative I can think of is that his glasses look a bit silly.

A bit harsh, I'm sure he's a better coach than most in this world. Just not an elite pro coach, in the top levels of rugby.

I think his resume with the Blues and then as an analyst suggests he shouldn't be operating at that level.

Love him as a human, but not as a coach

A bit harsh, I'm sure he's a better coach than most in this world. Just not an elite pro coach, in the top levels of rugby.

                                        Ok.

I think his resume with the Blues and then as an analyst suggests he shouldn't be operating at that level.

the ONLY negative I can think of is that his glasses look a bit silly.

And a very very limited coach and analyst

If we’re judging a persons character by whether they’re good rugby coaches AND good blokes there won’t be many good folk in the world. In fact by my reckoning only Graham Henry, Rassie Erasmus, Ian McGheechan and Jim Telfer would qualify
