@MajorRage said in Alternative needed from the absolute crap of stuff.co.nz:

Add another bow to the things that I am but cannot be proud of it seems.

    1. White
    2. Straight
    3. Male

    and now
    4. Rugby fan.

    Awesome.

1 of these things is not like the others. i have never understood pride in things that are not accomplishments, rather that you were born with. i guess gay not-having-to-be-ashamed-anymore parade doesn't have the same ring to it, but still... why anyone thinks that they should be proud of having been born black or white or male or female or straight or gay is beyond me.
there is at least a reason for oppressed minority groups (mis)using the word pride, in that they have been made to feel ashamed of what they are, or of less worth, and there is consequent widespread underachievement, criminality, depression, suicide, drug abuse etc in these groups. People want to fix these things, so they try to promote 'pride' in the grouping characteristic, when what they really want is pride in the individuals - i.e. not to feel proud of themselves for being gay, but to think that being gay is not negative and to feel proud of themselves. sorry to hear that you need a hand up too mate.

Sorry reprobate. I'm either too stupid understand your point or that is a Trumpesque pointless waffle. I think the latter ...

I think it could be shortened to:

    • People keep saying "proud" when they mean "not ashamed".

I got married in a kilt.

I apologise profusely for any pride I may have felt at that time on behalf of my heritage.

Richie always looked fucking hot in a kilt.

My parents have heaps of Scottish heritage stuff at their place - plaid, clan badge, jewellery etc, and I love it. That is the heritage I identify with, and I'm so proud of it.

    From NZ Herald (my emphasis)

"BP OIl New Zealand general manager of retail Debi Boffa said the company would be reploying extra staff to assist customers with the transition to the new Onecard."

    From the Urban Dictionary:

    "Reployment

    1. The act of re-employing someone (who was previously laid off) as a temp worker, usually at a lower wage scale.

    2. What happens to many people who have lost their permanent jobs following the crash of 2008.

    3. Another sign of the harsh economic times in which we live.

Acme Industries is having a Reployment Fair at the hotel downtown. They'll re-hire you as a temp at about half of what you were earning last year."

well, it was Fox News... so sure.. but no, they & their viewer see it as real.

The Fox coverage of this storm is excellent. They are only barely above screaming "we are all going to die!". I'm still waiting for the "Why has Jesus done this?" and a straight faced analysis of the number of gays in each county.

Hilariously its heading straight sor Trumps estate

    Me too.

Still wear it to formal occasions.

Does tend to attract dodgy women that want to put their hand up up to check if you are wearing undies though.
