    Speaking of hobbits Martin Freemans descent into madness in Fargo is proving to be brilliant entertainment.

    I've come to the conclusion that people from Minnesota are fucken odd.

    Apart from Prince, he was a genius.

    Naa actually he was really odd too.

    The Night Of.

    Interesting show, not so much a mystery, as a social commentary with a murder as its focal point.

    As far as i can tell, the show was less about what happened to a girl, and more about the dangers presented by the criminal justice system; the prison complex; overworked and apathetic police; and the pharmaceutical industry as well, strangely.

    :::

    And because of that commentary, there was no way they were ever going to show that Naz did it, as that pretty much fucks the narrative. And i quite liked how they did it, no big exoneration, no big reveal of new evidence (well, not really), more a defense lawyer able to confuse the jury enough, and a DA without enough real proof to convince them otherwise, leading to the stalemate. Again, the system was the story, not the act itself.

    :::

    And it's because of the way it played out that i hope it doesn't become a 2nd season, as it could only basically become a crime procedural, and lose its individuality.

    yeah I don't think they should make a 2nd series either...bit of a sad story really, when you see what can happen to someone's life while on trial, guilty or not.

    Been watching re-runs of the early Two and a Half Men series, man that was quality!

    So 3 episodes into Quarry, starring budget Hardy. It's a good watch and he's actually bloody good.

    Finished season 1 of Startup, with Martin Freeman (who is surprisingly excellent in his role), the Aids guy from The League and a guest appearance by Newman. Brilliant watch, really gripping. Highly recommend.

    Also a couple of episodes into Preacher, which is another good watch in a Tarantino kinda way.

    FTWD - my god there are some annoying mf characters on there! Let them get eaten FFS! They've also turned Curtis into a big ole pussy!

    Glad the real TWD starts in a few weeks!

    Loved Preacher, theres 8 more comics, sorrry "Graphic Novels", after this one too if they want to keep going. Ruth Negga (Tulip) is fricking fantastic.

    @gollum Cool! Oddly enough, she's the murder victim in Criminal Justice (what The Night Of is based on).

    She's also a nailed on Oscar nomination this year apparently. For something that looks awful & only made to win awards in the once in 50 years black oscars.

    Finished Narcos - good series, although given it follows Pablo, as he nears his inevitable end (sorry bout the spoiler) you almost start to feel sorry for him, how the mighty had fallen, then he goes and does something and you think, nope arrogant fluffybunny!

    I see why they named it Narcos now, rather than anything to do with Pablo, as it leaves them open for another series.

    Also finished Trapped - good series, keeps going with the twists and turns in that freezing MF little town! I did question the need for freezers alot of the time and how they managed to be out in the cold so often with seemingly alot less clothing than required.

    Just watched the pilot for Jean Claude van Johnson. I hope this gets picked up as a series.

    The basic premise is JCVD playing himself who's spent the last twenty years intentionally being a shit actor in crap movies as a cover story for actually being a secret agent.

    Finally got around to finishing Stranger Things

    Found that quite entertaining viewing all up. Good cliffhangers for Season 2 I guess, where shit is about to get real on small town America.

    I'm going to have a look at this Stranger Things when I get a chance. Big fan of the horror genre, the wife is not.

    Interesting to do some research afterwards and see how much they tweaked around with timelines in terms of deaths/arrests etc. Certainly made for a good story.

    @Smudge Jegga put me onto the book Killing Pablo, I remembered lots of bits, and then some I didnt remember, but then they did say they changed stuff, for the most part it followed pretty well.

    From the book, I got the impression the public ended up hating Pablo, I dont think the TV quite portrayed it as well as they did in s1 when he was a national hero and the change in attitude toward him, but he ended up a fat and lonely man before the end.
