@nonpartizan Was that the game where one team was behind by a point, deliberately fouled with about 30 seconds to go - to trigger the penalty shots, then ran it back to take a 3-pointer and steal the win?
I was at a bar here, and the barman was losing his shit trying to explain it to me as soon as it happened.
He's my man-splainer for all things american sport, and loves the job. -

The strategy of being up 3 late in the game and fouling to avoid the opposition shooting a 3 - was a disaster for OKC. I’m not a fan of it and when you are the best defensive team in the league it smacks of desperation rather than trusting your D.
But the analytics…..

It was unbelievably stupid, more so because Joker was off the court and they had no timeouts left
Fouling immediately after the SGA score also took no time off the clock - Gordon’s 2 made FT’s, the Denver foul, and Chet’s 2 misses, made it a 1 point game and only sucked a single second of playing time
They should have raced back on D after the dunk, and if they wanted, fouled in their half to at least use us 5 seconds of time - but I would have just played D and denied the 3 (no Joker remember). Worst case Denver make a 2 after at least 5-7 seconds. Worst, worst case is a tough contested 3 to tie I guess - but you still get the final shot then
Complete fuck up

bad fucking day for the nerds who are trying desperately to fuck up sports so they can feel included.

And Jesus Christ, the Mavs could have kept and built around Brunson if they wanted the Mamba vibe. That boy is a killer in the clutch.
After letting Steve Nash go surely they wouldn't make the same mistake?

these play offs have been pretty great, and showing how even the modern NBA is. We got two game 7s in the first round, now the Cavs are down 0-2, the Thunder and the Celtics both lost their opening games, and it appears the Warriors, who lost Steph early, are going to win as well.

5/5 wins for the road team so far in Round 2

Celtics a little more selective on their 3 ball today, but still a bit of a struggle
Knocks have struggled even more with Brunson and Bridges building houses out there. But the Knicks have cut a 20 point lead to still be hanging around in the 4th.
An ugly game all round

Another crazy finish.
Another team winning on the road.MSG is going to be epic.

Here's an idea Celtics - with the game on the line perhaps run the offense through anyone except Tatum
Or call a timeout at the very least!
-
Looks like the Nuggets have called it in…
They’ve got their home court advantage with the game 1 win.

Celtics dropping game 1 at home is really nothing new. Ho hum, I thought, especially when they missed a thousand shots.
But dropping that game... wow. A choke job of the highest order. This was going to be Tatum's year but he's just gone cold at the worst possible time.
They are still $1.90 to win the series (Knicks $1.86) and I think that's probably good value. If they take game 3 I still think they have enough to win the series, but that's a bigger and bigger IF as every day passes.
