Great try by the Aussie 13. Aussie number 3 is a beast.

The NZ blindside has a great workrate as well putting in the big hits and runs.

Just looks likes he's always got time.

Dumb play from our replacement halfback

We've hit back in the last 10 or so. Good impact from the bench, particularly the replacement front rowers heavily involved in the attack.

@ACT-Crusader Agreed. Mclutchie moving to 10 helped the attack too.

@Whites72 NZ won but I've already forgotten the final score - 32-22?

@KiwiMurph Maybe we could chuck him in the deep end and play him in the mitre 10 cup next year? It's very unlikely but it's not as if we're blessed with options (and he's a St Peters boy ;))

NEARLY half of the Fiji secondary schoolboys under-18 team members have been approached by overseas clubs and schools after their three games in New Zealand.

The side finally arrived home safely on Tuesday night after their flight diverted to Samoa then to Vanuatu upon their return from New Zealand on Monday. The diversion of flight was due to the bad weather conditionS.

Though the side lost all their matches against Australia, New Zealand and the New Zealand Barbarians some of these students have been offered rugby scholarships to study and play in New Zealand.

Three standout players confirmed to be offered rugby scholarship are Marist Brothers High School prop Kaliopasi Uluilakepa, QVS captain Kinivuai Veitata and hard hitting QVS centre Timoci Tavatavanawai.

Hopefully they take full advantage of the opportunities and some of them end up playing for Fiji.

The usual UK guard are spreading this story with the usual diatribe. What they don't seem to notice is this comment by the coach:

""But the good thing some of these boys are being approached by some of the clubs in New Zealand and hopefully things turn out well for the boys."

So Nz schools/clubs are happy, the Fiji players are happy, the coach/management of the Fiji team is happy ...

But the Pommy media isn't. Who has the problem again?

That they don't have a bunch of talented Fijians going through their schools...

@African-Monkey I wouldn't complain. Chuck Wiseguy Faiane and Plummer in the mix next year. Replacing Jono Hickey with a half-decent halfback wouldn't hurt either.

Judging by some of the articles I've read lately about Fijian rugby players getting into immigration visa troubles - which totally scuttles their pro careers basically anywhere.

I think the only really viable way for them to go the professional career route via a NZ domestic path is if they start on an education Visa, so this is indeed great for their careers.
