Awesome stuff you see on the internet

3 of the most jaw dropping things I have seen lately.

This one makes me feel physically sick, and I am pretty good with heights.

Japanese precision walking. 1.35ish in is unbelievable.

Just plain nuts. -
Dude that is sick! I was just thinking to myself "I cant see him hooking and unhooking his safety line as they go, maybe they're got some sort of one way runner on a single cable all the way up?" And the narrator starts going on about "free climbing".

I almost fainted! -
oh shit, climbing that tower was terrifying! every moment during the free climb I was thinking 'but what if you slip!?' no second chances there.

I could see that being the dream job a base jumper. Climb up, fix it, jump off with your chute! screw going backwards down that thing (shudder) -
that is seriously insane!! Even with no wind there would have to be a whole lot of sway?

so some fecker built it, now other poor fecks have to maintain it!!

Surely taking a parachute would be best to make for a quicker return? -
Holy shit! Holy shit! Holy shit! I don't really have a problem with heights, but the whole time i watched that video my chest was tight and my feet were tingling!! that is seriously fucked up. I bet you can't get a credit card between the cheeks of his ass the whole time.

Interesting story on the blog about that climb, lots of shit being generated by that (they tried to pull it, but it was too late).

One thing I missed that it pointed out, when he tied off at the very top HE TOOK BOTH HANDS OFF to grab the hook things. Jesus Christ, balls of steel. Oh, and what they were tied off to up there would have likely fallen off with them if they lost their balance, so false sense of security.

Sphincter tightening video. -

It's probably real, but if it's not...

My brother (at Weta) tells me it's the sort of thing he could bang out on his laptop in an evening. The ball leaves the frame quite a bit. Makes it easy to either edit out where it really went and put in a new one. He was quite surprised they used such an "obvious" technique - used on Forrest Gump over a decade and a half ago and exposed in some top-rating "making-of" things - seeing as the whole impact of the thing is it's believability.

But it's probably real. -
Never underestimate the gullibility of some people though, plenty of people know nothing about those techniques and believe it's real. Someone I showed it to didn't even question it, even Cory Jane's reverse kick.

As for the way they did it, it looks so real so I don't see what's wrong with the way they did it?

There has been some great PR from them this year, hope they do more stuff like this. Bit of fun and all that. -
Those AB and NFL ads are great - I think there was one like that with LeBron James back a few years - was viral and can't find it - but he was shooting full court baskets. Edited using the same technique - ball leaving the frame, then re-entering.

This isn't as awesome - but it still made me smile. TVC for Vailima - Samoan beer of choice. Apparently all of the actors in the commercial work at the brewery. Best use of a John Farnham audio track ever!
