So Italy beat Ireland. Maybe the Italy result wasn't so bad after all?

Italy were decent in the Six Nations U20s and are at home in this comp so not an awful first up result by NZ

Is this the same South African team that played against us a month ago? They have gone up a few levels and look to be the team to beat.

@akan004 there are a few changes. A few URC players added who make a huge difference. Obvious the heat help us as well. Hats off to Kevin Foote and the coaches.

@brodean like I posted earlier. Italy, England, Argentina and France play yearly in our u18 SA schools tournament. They do well there the last couple of years. They also are average to outstanding in the u20 six nations

@akan004 Ireland are terrible. Funding was cut to the U20s and 7s cut completely. They were missing the four best players of this age group but 3 won't play in this tournament. Italy have beaten them twice in a row for the first time ever.
NZ have a good chance of winning this tournament as England without Pollock lost Wales now SA.

              Flogged by the Junior Boks.
Scraped past a fairly middling Scotland.
About to get smashed to pieces by England.

Rugby's future in Australia is looking peachy.

Just buy some more NRL players. You'll be fine.

Tight 5 looks weak without Tengblad. Sa was getting pushed back by smaller Italians in contact which isn't a great sign.

I don't know why Vakasiuola wasn't used more as a ball-carrier. That's more his strength. The lineout also went to pieces once Treacy was subbed. We should have expected that the Letiu-McLeod connection would work but Georgia won ball at the front.

An article on the physically biggest players at the U20 World Championship and you'll never guess who makes an appearance. It's our openside giant, Caleb Woodley:

                    Caleb Woodley – New Zealand
While one of the lighter players on this list, Caleb Woodley is anything but small for a flanker. At 197cm and 122kg, the Auckland-born Blues back-rower is a towering presence with the frame of a second-row and the engine of a loose forward. A serious prospect in New Zealand’s 2025 U20 squad.

                    https://www.rugbypass.com/news/there-be-monsters-the-biggest-world-rugby-u20-champions-players/

A serious prospect indeed, even if you take into account his actual measurements. Well, I think we can conclude two things from this: the journalists at RugbyPass don't watch any of the actual rugby and, more worryingly, they don't read the Fern!

Poor Logan Wallace, injured again. I assume Riley Tofilau will be on a plane ASAP.

I'd like to know if Faauma Kupita is fit. He's a big unit, a good scrummager and mobile for his size.

This is good news as the current locks in the squad are not very tall but I must admit that the lineout functioned rather well. The main problems are a very weak scrum, lack of comitment in the rucks which leads to numerous turnovers and losses of continuity in attack.
