    bit of a shit weekend

started off with no one putting their hand up to be the ground marshal so went down early to fill in at least until the 1st grade game

we have the new coach this year, started as one of the 2nd grade coaches but had a bit of a falling out and so moved down to help 3rd grade, hes also helped cover our colts games when needed. he was new this year so have tried to explain how things work and in general hes been dismissive. ive asked if he can do the rugby explorer app a couple of times (colts and 3rd grade) and both times "thats not my job, im just hear to coach" before actually turning his back and walking away

Ive also had to tell him a few times he cant go under the posts after a try is scored and coach during the game, or run water and coach....he does it anyway and brushes me off

so....sat, already running around sorting things and so a bit flustered, 3's are running out and hes walking behind them with a ball...'is that your match ball?"....looks at it like its the first time..."nah"....."where is your matchball?"....i dont know, thats not my job".....FFS....i run and get them a couple of balls

during the game, he goes down and coaches under the posts....the 4th offical reminds me hes not allowed....i agree and tell him again...brushed off...4th offical says he make a note in his match report...

after the game he comes up to me...starts explain "hes new"...."he doesnt know how thing worK"....not expecting me to completely unload on him...cue him going and having a winge to the director of rugby about people having in in for him

we also went on to lose 1s with a penalty as the final play of the game...and after the final whistle a group of bloke start chanting "fuck the House"...."fuck this and thats "...proper agressive....so as the bloody ground marshal i have to go and tell them they won, go and celebrate rather than abusing people after the game....to be met with "we dont care"..."what you going to do"....good point, not much i can do other than that

all in all just a bit shit

That's fucked. Straight to the Committee with that clown IMHO.

My coaches are hopeless with the scoring app so our manager gets by. I've started tapping a few people on the shoulder to help out and the message is gradually getting through.

Especially the Mormon guys, or at least those without kids. Theyre happy to help out. And just happy in general

I dream of having a 4th Official. Even a 2nd and 3rd official would be nice. Especially after we got fire bombed two weeks ago.

It was interesting, reviewing all the video and looking at the stats. Game in yellow is the talking point.

TL:DR; we usually win the penalty count, but that doesn't affect the outcome. In maths terms, the penalty count both for and against for our R9 game is ~2.3 Standard Deviations from the norm.

@NTA yeah, thats what annoyed me more, we dont always have one, it was just because we were the broadcast 1st grade and womens game so he came down for the whole day...but this coach couldnt follow the rules for one game right in front of him!

those are some wild stats, you can understand how people start to think refs have bias. we have a real two have of the comp situation going on in Vic...it has been commenting on in the last few games the penalty counts have heavily favoured the teams form the bottom half.....we think Vic Rugby knows it doesnt look good having such a divide between teams

and thats what ive said to him, no one else in the club says things like "thats not my job"...thats not what we do, get stuck in a sort it...."are you saying im not carrying my weight".....he was not expecting me to say "no"

his game was about 10 minutes from being a forfeit because we didnt have the ground marshal (normal dude had a baby and so was away)....he could have actually done it himself but it didn't occur to him, just lucky Mrs Womble was working so i had gone down early to help out

I watched the game he did this week, and he's simply not good.

I wish he was as lenient on the high tackles with as he was with both sides Saturday.

so....bit of a vent...but ultimately a good result in our 1st grade so so not too pissed off

i was acting as Groud Marshall for the 3rd grade game, sunny but we've had a lot of rain and so the ground are very soft...and the score reflected that, 12-7 at about 60 min...they try and so a sub while theyre doing a lineout on the other side of the pitch...ref doesnt see...player doesnt come back...just slots into the backline...they go on to score immediately....i ask WTF...the forth official points to someone form theyre line out just stepping off the other sideline....says see, they were off....ignoring the fact we were still marking everyone

we're then working hard to come back but they get a penalty advantage, they pass to the 10 who catches it and then throws it on the ground to get the penalty...which they kick...they go on to win...so pissed

the 1st grade game is another slog we end up winning but our captain and heart of the club went down with a season and potentially carrier ending injury after a no arms high shot layed him out like a rag doll and he ruptured everything in his knee...they have 4 yellow and a red all for high or no arm tackles...then get in a big prayer circle in the end i assume to ask for forgiveness? ....and are now whinging all over socials about being victims

    I fucking hate that attitude.

A club I AR'd a few weeks back were total fluffybunnies against our guys, but besides a bit of shit directed at me at the end of the match, it was all onfield so I didn't hear it and couldn't report it. That plus the cannanball tackles at knees, swinging arms, shoulder charges.

Basically they're pointing at the ref and telling him he's fucked to his face and he did NOTHING about it. And I knew at that point, even if I heard something, it wasn't going to matter because the ref wasn't going to do shit. One of our blokes later told me a player on the other side said "this ref's a useless fluffybunny and that AR is a fluffybunny as well" to his face.

I call the Comp Administrator - they say to email them the details, which I did, and nada.

On the weekend I get a request from someone who played the same fluffybunnies on Saturday to send through my report as they've decided - surprise, surprise - to be a bunch of fluffybunnies again.

Now that it happened to an eastern suburbs club it is suddenly an issue. But when a western sydney club like me reports it? Fuck. All.

And I'm going into judiciary tonight because a ref from the eastern suburbs decided to fuck us 3 different ways two weeks ago.

    Why do I bother?

Red card was given 21st June but we couldn't make it that week.

On 27th June we got 2 citings based on the ref's report. Executive Director is citing them for Breach Code Of Conduct.

I had the original red card sitting out the 28th but the other guys played as the case hadn't been heard.

and a tuesday? clash with training?

    Judiciary is usually Wednesday.

We only train Wednesdays, so not sure if this week is just a special for us.

EDIT: Most of the competition had a bye week for the Tahs v Lions so maybe they figured it was a low chance of other cases to hear.

    Judiciary outcome:

    1. The guy who got the red card in the match was given a caution. Good. It was a shit decision to start with and only slightly high in terms of tackle. A fucking moron could have seen that - except the ref we had was special.

    2. The first guy to get cited for a Code of Conduct breach post-match got 2 weeks. Big Fijian guy who looks intimidating at the best of times, so that's probably a win.

    3. Last guy is TBC - the ref claims he called him a name after the game. We maintain he was calling someone else a name and that it was misconstrued.

TBH after all that - and a fluffybunny of a week being sick and trying to put together this shit - I think we're winning.

However it boiled my fucking piss when one of the lawyer types sitting on the Judiciary for the Fijian bloke picked up the stat dec I printed out and said to him "Are these your words?"

Oh hello casual racism. Took you long enough... like 60 seconds

Ah that's why they moved it: Origin + Brumbies/Lions

That's the sad truth - volunteers or even paid coaches aren't just lying around.

Our First Grade coach is a lawyer (but wasn't always - swapped careers later in life) and can get fired up as per his performance at the Judiciary last night. 😬

He's had a couple of warnings via ref reports - nothing personal or abusive.

Bloke from another club, backed by a very large sports organisation including a licenced venue, said "just put together a package and get someone new". Yeah sure mate. I don't even have $2k lying around to just pay someone. You've got pokies and old boys living on the water in Sydney!

Nothing wrong with being the bigger man.

We had one of our Life Members get antsy with the players on the day we got that red card and had the other fallout. Parading around with the "I'm a Life Member and Major Sponsor of this club - he can't speak to me like that!" which is unhelpful.
