I actually think Donaldson could be a step up, higher ceiling but also capable of a few brain farts every match. Very rocks and diamonds but might be the type of player that the Wallabies need.
Interesting, Lolesio has a solid history of melting, love seeing him named against the ABs, I'm surprised he still gets test gigs.
All living of one running kick against the French, about two coaches ago

At a Lions Lunch with Ieyan Evans, Joe Schmidt, Ronana O'Gara and a bunch of Brumbies. Hope to remember and share anything memorable and or insightful.
Will probably be too pissed.
Judging by some of the spelling you already are.
Have fun !
Turns out I got worse.

That’s a mortal blow to the Wallabies and you have to feel for them. I’m not sure Donaldson offers much as a replacement.
I think they're better off for the injury.

Any good yarns ? Maybe you decided a repeat of the Duncan McRae/Ronan O’Gara incident from 2001 was in order ?

I don't recall many in sufficient detail, but what I did find interesting is Joe spoke about the importance of finding grass with their kicks. So that leads me to believe their kicking strategy won't be putting much emphasis on contestables. Perhaps he doesn't believe that the Wallabies will compete well in that space?
-
@antipodean kind of surprising that, in general.
With all the league and afl in Oz, you just sort of expect them to be naturally good in the air..
I do agree tho that modern game does make grass hunting a wise option.

On the flip side, if they were any good in the air maybe they'd be playing league or AFL.

I'd have Lynagh straight in there. He's the future.
He broke his hand in Super QF and hasn't trained since. I don't think you can have him based off that little preparation. Rate him highly when fit.

Bollocks
Didn’t know that

If in doubt, look to Ireland.
“Blair Kinghorn received positive news following a scan on a knee injury sustained against the Brumbies in Canberra on Wednesday night. The Lions medical team will manage his return to training over the coming days. Ireland’s Jamie Osborne will join the squad to provide additional training cover. Osborne is currently with the Ireland squad in Portugal and will arrive in Brisbane on Saturday to meet up with the squad.”

@NTA said in AUNZ XV vs British and Irish Lions:
Backline starting to form up for the Lions IMHO, with the following as lock-ins for me:
9 Mitchell
10 Russell
11 VDM
12 Tuipulotou
13 Jones
14 Hansen
15 KeenanI’d be very happy with that
Word on the street
JGP, Russell, Lowe, Aki, Jones, Freeman, Keenan
Mitchell, M Smith / Farrell, Hansen (if they go 5-3 bench)
-
@MiketheSnow yeah I can see how JGP would be the frontrunner, but seems odd to select a playmaking halfback in combination with Russell. Doesn't feel it would work as well as a sniping/passing halfback would.
If you're going to select JGP, a flyhalf that plays a more traditional role feels a better fit.
