<br />
As anyone who's seen "The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters" knows, Steve Wiebe has been trying for years to beat Billy Mitchell and officially retake the all-time high score spot for "Donkey Kong." This week, he finally made good, and Twin Galaxies has verified Wiebe's new score of 1,064,500 and probably made him as happy as he's been since Mitchell took the title away from him in 2007.<br />
<br />
<br />
"Much like previous times when I've broken a video game record, it seemed surreal that all the time and effort I put into the game had finally paid off," Wiebe explained in post on Twin Galaxies' website. "I started playing in the morning and didn't have much luck, so I took a break and ran some errands with my kids. I came back a few hours later and had to restart about five times before I hit the record game."<br />
<br />
The record dethrones Mitchell's current best of 1,062,800 and will no doubt renew their much-publicized rivalry for another round.<br />
<br />
"I think many people had written me off since I had come up short at so many live record attempts, and I understand that," Wiebe explained. "But, I always believed that I could still do it and so did a lot of people who supported me. Looking back, I would say that if the record came too easy, then it wouldn't mean so much right now, so I'm glad I went through the struggles I did."<br />
<br />
Wiebe can now shed the underdog status he's publicly held since "King of Kong" came out three years ago, and everyone who rooted for him in the documentary can savor the victory with him, now that he's the best in the world and the record books once again.<br />

finally watched Boy last night, and while I'd been warned despite the advertising, it isnt really a comedy, there were some seriously funny moments in it.<br />
<br />
All in all it was a good film, if not for the underlying story that was obviosuly a little sad. -
Can't comment - haven't seen the movie - and I'm not a fan of Kilmer. But he was in the stoopid "MacGruber" which was just released on dvd, and that's a worthwhile waste of time, some good laughs. And last years' "Bad Lieutenant" Port o' Call New Orleans" was excellent, even if many of you here hate Nic Cage. (It was directed by Werner Herzog.)
<br />
<br />
I thought Bad Lieutenant stank, in spite of the fact Cage was pretty damn good in his role!! -

You're a brave fulla TR giving Cage some credit around here.<br />
<br />
I finally got around to watching From Paris With Love. Not a love story but a thriller-ish with Travolta and Johnathan Rhys Meyers. I found it quite enjoyable. Travolta was hamming it big time but it fit the movie. Rhys Meyers actually came across as a real person for once. Despite the fact you can see the twist coming a mile off it is all good B grade fun. -
oh I normally think he is ratshit, but credit where it's due!!

I've heard people tell me the exact same thing about "Aguirre: Wrath of God" and "Fitzcarraldo," so that doesn't surprise me. Herzog is an idiosyncratic writer and director. Some people think he stinks; others believe him a genius. I fall in the latter. -
Knight & Day - kinda like the more outrageous Bond films with a bit of Mission Impossible chucked in, wasnt crap.
-
Clash of the Titans. A solid 6 out of 10. Not sure who's balls Sam Worthington is sucking to get these major roles. The guy is awful.
-
Predators; just what I expected, shooting, killing, fighting...wasnt so sure I'd like Brody as the lead in an action, but thought he was fine (much like many with Neesam prior to Taken I expect)

I agree he was fine. thought this movie was good, not great but good. -

<br />
Probably would been a goood movie if it was made 10 years ago....especially with those two leads -
There was nothing else on, so i watched "GI Joe: Rise of the Cobra" last night.<br />
<br />
2 questions:<br />
How do movies like this get made?<br />
Seeing as it did get made, how did it not go straight to DVD?<br />
Actually 3 questions, did Dennis Quaid need some money the week they offered him that part? Just horrible.<br />
<br />
Sienna Miller does look very good as a brunette though. -

Watched it over the weekend. Didn't get why all the Gods looked like members of some 80s glam rock band. 5/10<br />
<br />
Worthington was bad in what should have been a fun movie. All Aussie actors seem to think they're tough if they talk in a deep, husky voice. -

Mate have you heard a metro sydney sider before? I much prefer the husky Worthington(though not a sydney sider) to a potentially female sounding lead. -

Teenage boys.<br />
Old farts who remember the glory days of GI Joe in the 80s who pay the money so they can whinge about how much it has been ruined.<br />
Sienna Miller in tight black clothing. Speaking of Sienna Miller, did anyone ever watch that show she was in about the US cop working in London? She was his flatmate and used to lie around in tights on the couch - damn she was fine, although as her film career progressed she seemed to get too skinny.<br />
<br />
Worthington was good value in his pre US movies but the life seems to have been sucked out from him.<br />
<br />
Speaking of Ockers, anyone seen Animal Kingdom yet? -
I agree he was fine. thought this movie was good, not great but good.
<br />
<br />
Was certainly an improvement on the AVP movies and going back further alot better than Predator 2.<br />
<br />
Adrian Brody is a strange choice for an action lead, started with King Kong and i wasnt sure if he was suited for that role either. -
Watched anime series/movie Afro Samurai & Afro Samurai 2: Resurrection. Samuel L. Jackson voices the Afro Samurai. Fucken brilliant. 9/10.
