Nathan Cleary showing he's a grossly overrated donkey.

Well if ever the 'hard work beats talent' quote came into play, tonight was it. Watch the first Coates try where Lomax misses him. How many NSW players tried to get across to help? 0. Compare that to when To'o found himself in space. Whenever he was in space, there were almost 3 or more QLDers sprinting over to defend. The Crichton try was a result of QLD over committing funnily enough. Look at Harry Grant's try. Would QLD let Robson do the same with 4 defenders around him? Never.

QLD were just hungrier especially on defence.

            QUEENSLANDAAAA!!

What a game! No errors, no penalties, no "6 agains" just 2 teams going at it.

And guess what? Qld wanted it more. Ran harder, hit harder, chased harder. Maroon shirts were in to everything.

Which halfback is apparently an immortal? Fuck yes it's Tommy "all heart" dearden. What a performance. Did literally everything to get himself home.

Hammer at the back showed exactly where he should play (and where certain astute posters have been crying out for, for like 2 years). Val Holmes went big. The rookie centres stepped up huge against their big name opposition.

Up front Tino had shit in his nostrils from the first minute. Papa was an inspired selection. The 2nd rowers were hard and tireless. That was Trent liero's best ever game.

NSW had nothing. I feel for Jerome luia who was genuinely excellent. Cleary is an origin fraud, did anyone even notice him? Trell tried hard but resorted to milking penalties. Robson was probably the blue's 2nd best on ground.

What a performance, what a win.

Only thing I disagree on is Robson, thought he was a tackle bot and did what he could for the game he plays, but the game needed more creativity which Watson provided with the very limited opportunity he got. So agree thought he played well just wasn't the man required. Mind you the whole bench was mismanaged as well.

Seriously how do NSW lack passion.... in most years, they clearly feel they can just roll out the game plan, the chin himself unable to want or vary his attack (or take a couple of steps back, like Luai was able to do). ..

Anyway Qld deserved that, great effort

Lastly I think it shows how poor Payten is if he cant get and bottle that effort from his Cows who were all genuinely excellent. But thats a different point

strange old comp. in four of their last five games the Dolphins have racked up big scores, three of them above 50, and in the other they lost to Newcastle.

The Warriors are cooked. That Penrith game will be the turning point for both clubs.

Melbourne are really good. The Sharks are not.

The Titans hosting the Cowboys was low quality high scoring fun.

Im giving the wahs some hope, purely because they have been caught the last two weeks with injuries during and still stayed in the fight.

Tanah has carved up in reggies and I dont mind TMM, he cant tackle but he can attack. Coach doesnt trust him though. So Boyd probably straight in. As long as CHT is not kicking goals we still have an outside chance of decent finals. Cant see us winning anything though, mind you didnt see us in top 4 either

And hopefully Taine on the wing over DWZ and Kosi, Roger at fullback would be nice. Although I suspect Taine goes to fullback and Kosi retains his position.

                  We are not dead yet

So Tanah proves he is the best kicking half we have with height on bombs that make our chasing line look fast. Best improvement in that area all year. Digs into the line well. Actually gives CHT space when combining together. Sure not perfect, but his kicking game is perfect for a team that likes to play with so much structure.

DWZ and Berry are the worst at shooting out of the line and missing their intended target, often leaving each other the problem to clean up. DWZ still stands too flat and misses more opportunities than he should in attack as well. However he is a great finisher when he gets the chance. Happy Berry is out, hopefully since Ali was playing reggies he comes straight in. Or the second coming of Capewell continues

Well done Wahs, easy banana skin today and avoided it

We might win a few more games with our run home, who would have guessed

That was a bloody good win yesterday. The Tigers aren't an easy win this year, but we should still be expected to put them away, which in the end we did.

Tanah Boyd steps in nicely, and plays a good, simple controlled game. How good to have a half with 70-odd games under his belt sitting in reserve grade? If metcalf was fit next week, Webster would have some thinking to do i think, as i agree that was a good kicking performance. Nice to go up in 6s as well.

Top 4 not locked in yet given the form of the teams below us.

Just on the overall comp, we're in the home stretch now that Origin is done and dusted.

The Raiders, the Storm and the Dogs will all finish top 4. The Raiders had the week off, the Storm easily took care of the Knights, and the Dogs just got home against the Cowboys.
We're doing well in 4th but the problem is...
The Broncos and the fucking Panthers have now won 5 straight each to start applying pressure. You would like to think that Penrith are maybe a win too far back, but who knows? I think all of those 6 teams can start their September prep.
The last two spots in the 8 are up for grabs. You would think the Roosters make it, especially as they start to get a lot of troops back. So that means 8th will be either the Dolphins or the Sharks. The Phins are running out of troops, so will need their remaining stars to go big each week. Luck for them thats arguably the form halfback, the best fullback, and the best centre in the comp. The Sharks have been so disappointing, especially being unaffected by Origin, that win on Friday over the Dolphins was vital.

Everyone else is looking to 2026, as i can't see any of them going on a ridiculous run (ie Knights) run to make the finals. In fact 11-17 is a list of shit football teams that has already cost Des his career, and should cost Payton his as well. In fact Ryles is the only one who should keep his job.

Just on Parra, good on them for prioritising the future by deciding to use Brown where they need him while they build for next year. If they were challenging for finals it might be a different story, but with nothing to play for they gain nothing by playing him at 6.

Pretty good from Brown too, has done everything asked of him from Ryles since he told them he was leaving without sulking and even mentoring Joash coming through

yeah we also had a half go down busted in two matches in the match. One a massive cork in which he could bare stand and one where got cut in half and did an ACL.

Still felt we let Penrith off the hook though

The origin period was bad for us because we lost our two best players, and a heart and soul guy at the back. We've done well to bounce back from the Penrith game, that could have ended our season.

Actually i looked at our draw, and we could win out. The Dogs away is the only game we have against a top 6 team, we host the Dolphins and travel to Manly for our only other games against decent sides. Otherwise it's the Knights, the Titans twice, the Dragons and the Eels

I like our run home and it was a solid win yesterday. I’m not too concerned about those losses we had. We were on such a high and given how long the season is, I don’t mind a reality check or two, but we have bounced back and now focus in on the next 2 games.

Our draw is sublime compared to others, even with some big outs as long as we dont drop further key players, we still have a good shot at top four

Reports emerging that AOB is out at the end of the year. Des is a certainty to be gone. That's two. Cowboys better pull the trigger or there won't be anyone decent to hire.
