Farrell will obviously select the Irish team and fill in a few gaps. Choosing so many Irish replacement players (a third choice TH Prop FFS) is not a good look.
If he does that, he could lose the unloseable tour.

I sort of feel sorry for these guys. Yes they will be Lions but then again not really. Brought in to pad out the dirt trackers in a nothing game against scratch opposition purely because they are geographically convenient (OK Darcy aside who was unlucky in the first place), is not quite there really. A bit like not passing out on your Royal Marines Commando training but still wearing the regimental tie.
Edit: I am reminded of Steve Smith on the 1980 tour. Called in as a last minute injury replacement for the final test, sat on the bench and didn't play a single minute. Yeah he got his Lions blazer and tie but he would never wear them. Fortunately he got called up again on the 1983 tour and did play.

It's him or Donaldson. Edmed would have to be the world's best salesman to convince Schmidt that NPC rugby is the same as the Lions.
