i'll tell you what a mickey mouse trophy is
the bundesliga (a one team league)
the french league (a one team league)
the spanish league (a two team league)
the italian league (not much better)
the epl (a litte bit better than that)bournemouth v burnley - who f'n cares!
-
the fracas at the end was probably more of a surprise than the actual result
couldn't really understand it, the game didn't appear to be that niggly and the result was pretty much decided in the first half
woulda thought you'd just cop the loss and get the f**k outta there
the in-your-face tactics of chelsea (which were perfect) was probably a bit annoying tho

Although many will agree with you, I'm not sure you've got that right.
Even the one team leagues, have mini battles in other parts of the table & the opportunity for the rest to knock over the big ones creates huge interest and atmosphere. IT's a diff sport but Drive to Survive has proven unequivocally that the "who cares" teams are equally worthy of the exposure if given it. Wrexham, another.
Bournemouth vs Burnley maybe a who cares match for many, but it will still sell out & have a cracking atmosphere - especially if both are either vying for Europe or avoiding relegation.

The Serie A is probably the most competitive league in the world lol.

Yep Serie A doesn't seem to have any one club much richer than the rest - it is really wide open at the top.
Palace chucked out of the Europa League for double club ownership rules - Forest into Europa League. Seems a pretty harsh punishment for them basically being surprised that they made it into Europe.
Haven't watched the Chelsea final highlights yet, looks like they really did a job on PSG - hard to say if it means anything in the long run but better to win than lose, especially financially. Also it seems bizarre that they can sign a player and bring him straight into a tournament. The concept of a club world cup is fine, but it is all Saudi money and there really isn't the space for it in the calendar - Chelsea are going on their summer break while other EPL teams are already playing pre-season games.
-
@MajorRage ring culture manifest.
If you're not first you're last etc. Absolute bullshit.
The Premier League was as interesting this past season as any, even without a title race or relegation fight. The flattening out of the middle of the table created huge interest.
Be interesting to see what happens this coming season with some obscene money being spent at the top. I hope we don't revert to the bad old days.

Agree, unlike the normal excitement that comes from 10 teams in the race to be relegated, it came to be about 12 teams to be within reach of playing in Europe. Loved it until I didnt lol
Hard to know what to expect this year, dont really want bottom three to go straight back down, but if the fight is contestable elsewhere, Im probably happy with it
-
Not sure where he will end up this year, we have just bought a keeper in Petrovik and sold Travers (which seems a really bad move), but it has meant that in these warm up games Paulsen has played with the main squad, even if off the bench
-
if you've got zero chance of ever being first - now that's a bullshit competition
if spurs and manu didn't get relegated last season they are never getting relegated
i can remember when manu were in the second division - but that aint ever happening again
kinda liked Norwich's realistic attitude the last couple of times they got promoted
didn't change their team much
gave the players who won the championship the reward of playing the big league PL teams
gave the fans a nice fixture list for a season
then fucked off back to the championship with a boat load of money
nice workthe way the system (FFP and all that) operates now, that's the responsible approach for the all the promoted teams
-
yeah the italian would be the most competitive of the big five west euro leagues
the efl championship is also a competitive league, and if they took the parachute money out, it would be even more so
the brazilian league is more competitive than the the west euro leagues
yeah i follow the brazilian league as well
both the finalists in the fifa world club championship were beaten by Rio clubs in that competition -

I might have to start watching some Wrexham games.
All Whites star Liberato Cacace appears to be on the verge of a sensational move to Wrexham AFC, and the deal could be completed in Wellington. According to reports in Italy, Cacace has agreed to join the world-famous Welsh club owned by actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac in a club-record transfer worth approximately $4.8 million.

Bit disappointed to be honest, I thought Libby was doing pretty well for Empoli in Serie A and was hoping he'd get picked up by another top flight team post relegation, moving to the championship feels like a backwards step to me.
Agreed. Crap move.

Exciting England-Italy game in the women's Euros semis. England equalised six minutes into injury time after 90 minutes to take it to extra time. And they have just taken a lead with one minute of extra time left. Chloe Kelly had her penalty saved but scored on the rebound.
