Adelaide are top of the table. Incredible.
Lions with a statement win at the 'G to handily take care of Collingwood.

Thanks to all the results over the weekend, the Dogs had a huge win and are still outside the 8. Super congested table still.

Looking at the remaining fixtures and there will be some big moves still

Adelaide should finish top, they have West Coast and North either side of hosting Collingwood. 18 wins
Collingwood have the Hawks, Adelaide and Melbourne. In their current form they may only win one more. 16 wins
Brisbane have Sydney, away to Freo and host the Hawks. 16 wins (but the bonus of a draw)
Geelong are kissed on the dick, Essendon, Sydney and Richmond. 17 wins
Freo have Port, Brisbane and the Dogs. 16 wins, or 17 if the Dogs are eliminated before the last round.
the Suns have four games. Carlton, GWS, Port and Essendon. 16 wins
Hawthorn have Collingwood, Melbourne and Brisbane. 15 wins
GWS have North, GC and St Kilda, and i think they win 2 for 15 wins
the Dogs finish with Melbourne, West Coast and Freo. 3 wins gets them to 15 and they play Friday night of the last round.

I think you'll need 15 wins to play finals, and more than 16 to make top 4.
And it will only take a couple of the above games to reverse and the whole picture changes again.

Adelaide will finish top, Geelong will finish 2nd on percentage, Brisbane and Freo will round out the 4 and Collingwood will drop to 5th. And if that comes to pass then i think the Dogs miss.

Right, just moves to Perth fellow ferners. I'm on the Freo bandwagon. What are our chances of winning it lol?

I also know bugger all about the game but am making an effort to follow haha.

    on ya cobber!

Freo have a decent chance of finishing top 4 and getting that second chance. They’ll smash Port next weekend then have a stern test against Brissy and then could end the Bulldogs chances of Finals in the last round.

Freo are a good team to watch too.

Yeah tried to make yesterday's game against Carlton but sadly shopping with the wife took over.

Am going to the game against the Lions on the 15th though, $39 for a seat in the nosebleeds haha but I look forward to it.

Sorry, on the prices, the cheapest tickets to a West Coast Eagles game was $62! Was cosidering going to the Eagles v Crows game next week, but yeah, maybe not for that price.

@barbarian your prediction come to pass, the implosions is huge and Goodwin is our first coaching casualty.

Yep. Can’t wait for the stories to come out! From where they were in 2021, hard to believe they are back on the slide like this.

Can’t wait for the bleating from some disgruntled Dees players. The Petraca stuff is just the tip of the iceberg too

So the Board have made one big decision.

The next is a realistic look at their list and where they think the team is on the cycle. Is there legs for one more go at it before rebuild? or is it rebuild now? because that shapes who they chase.

They've got to get rid of Clayton Oliver. Currently on $1.7m a season and worth about a fifth of that.

If it was the NBA you'd trade him out to a tanking team with a few picks attached, but it's not so easy in the AFL. They will have to eat a big chunk of his salary, you'd think.

That Oliver contract has gone very bad, but, at least from the outside it looked perfectly reasonable at the time.

There are a few others they have to look at as well. How many kms are left in Gawn, May and Viney's legs? Will Petracca ever be 2023 Petracca ever again?

oof it's worse than i thought

Gawn, May and Melksham are all 34 (or as close to it)
    McDonald is 33
by the start of next season Viney, Lever and Petracca will be 30 or 31

Their "best" player is also their only gun south of 30 in Pickett.

Now, Collingwood are proving that champion vets still have a role to play in the game, but you need young talent to balance it out. Melbourne don't have that.

That job might be a trap

Oliver was definitely worth that at the time and given other clubs were circling, it had to be done. But there are other players who on big overs that they should’ve been more circumspect on.

I like Petraca and don’t mind Gawn, but any time another Melbourne team is under the pump it’s great, it means my team isn’t 😉

The main problem is Oliver being back-ended. I get why you do that, it does allow you to keep top-end talent for a while, but this is the risk.
