Yep, shocking that Nicholls was even considered let alone actually selected. I can only imagine it is because he is one of the 20 NZC contracted players.

Good to see Matt Rowe get a full contract with Canterbury after moving from CD.
Probably the most promising Under 20 year old quick in NZ.
One to look out for in the future.
Has good pace moves the ball late creates good bounce and comes over the top nice and tall with a good seam up.
To me he looks the best young quick we have had for a while.
Can hold a bat as well can establish himself as a decent no.8.

I wasn't that connected with NZ Cricket through the Moles era (no Foxtel, lkmited internet). Any comment on this?

Interesting he thinks his career is worth a book.

          ‘Brand McCullum’ what a cock.

However I remember him bursting onto the scene with a very Aussie swagger about him which I think definitely benefitted the team.

Hard to say who is in the right.

But yes, very surprised this is apparently worth a book

Unsurprising comments from Moles. From memory there were very much two halves to McCullum's career in that regard.

Interesting in Ross Taylor's book that he thought quite highly of Moles and was surprised by the player revolt at the time.

Starts 11pm NZT. I believe Three Now has live coverage?

Sadly few surprises there. The MA's aren't perfect, but NZ Cricket seems to operate on a different wavelength to the community game lately.

The original PlayHQ debacle, and the recently retracted levy being among the examples.

It wouldn't feel right without another NZ quick bowler being sidelined with a back stress fracture.

                          • Black Caps fast bowler Will O’Rourke has been diagnosed with a stress fracture in his lower back.
                          • The 24-year-old will be sidelined for at least three months, ruling him out of white-ball series against Australia, England and the West Indies.
                          • Glenn Phillips (groin) and Finn Allen (foot) will also miss the October series against Australia, while captain Mitch Santner (groin) is in doubt.

Zac Foulks coming off a couple of good knocks in the NZ A v SA A matches
75 and 54 top scoring in both games.

I have heard his batting was rated higher than his bowling when he was coming through the grades, so that is good to see. It's strange, but whenever I have seen him bat, to my eye he has looked more like a bowler first, batsman second. Admittedly I have only see him in limited over games.

Simon Keene was the top scorer in game 2 with 77. The top order batsmen have been poor looking at the scorecard. Jacobs with two ducks, for example.

Yeah I missed keene 77 ,It has been a very poor batting performance ,Kelly has also failed so far.
Foulkes batting down the order has saved their arses twice now from putting up a very poor score both times.

Rhys Mariu is looking more like a test opening bat as time goes on his 249 with a 97% strike rate is a good effort for NZA V SAA.
Rhys has a real ability to go on and get big hundreds. He has great defence a real hunger to score runs and good concentration, a few good players coming through,I think NZ has some good depth now.
Another good knock from Dale Phillips as well with 107.

                                          607/7 declared, SA-A are 137/3
Didnt see that coming after the ODI's

Mariu is building a very impressive FC record already. Thats 2 x 200's hes scored now
