If Scooter is fully fit then he will play. But I would like us to get used to playing with more size which I think is the goal. So for me it’s Patty T on the bench even with Vaa’i at 6.

We didn’t see it against France and I think available personnel influenced it but I still think a 6/2 is on the cards at some point in this RC.

    My ideal bench is:

    Hooker
    LHP
    THP
    Lock
    Big loosie
    Quick breakdown attacking loosie
    Halfback
    Back 10/15 type.

    Ardie covering 12

I’m not opposed to a 6/2 split if they find the right players but Robertson seems reluctant and I get the feeling they’re looking for an impact midfield back on the bench in addition to the halfback and first five/fullback cover.

I also agree about wanting the forward pack to be bigger overall but the way to achieve that is to find a larger openside and/or eight, and they seem to be reluctant there too. Just look at the loose forwards in the squad and how often they get two of the smaller players on field together.

Barrett had been carrying an injury, possibly limiting his play.
That being said, Holland and Patty T are a very powerful combo and if Scooter can't surpass them, then Ardie should be captain. There should be no favors.

I upvoted because I agree. But think a fully fit Scooter should start.

But would not be averse to subbing him.

@booboo Hey you copied my homework.

    Appears I did.

    But making some minor changes:

    16 Taukei'aho
    17 Norris
    18 Tosi
    19 Tuipolutu
    20 ParkerFinau
    21 Christie
    22 Beaudie/DMac
    22 Tupaea Tavatavanawai (I googled ... )

Parker staying back for NPC, so perhaps gets a go in second game.

Jim is a closer match for Jordie at 12 while covering wing. Rieko (googled) covers 13.

    My 23:

    1 - EDG
    2 - Codie Taylor
    3 - Newell
    4 - Scooter
    5 - Vaa’i
    6 - Finau
    7 - Kirifi
    8 - Savea

    9 - Ratima
    10 -DMac
    11 - Ioane
    12 - Jordie
    13 - Proctor
    14 - Jordan
    15 - BB

    Bench Norris/Sami/Tosi/Sititi/Lock/Christie/Tupea/Narewa

Locks tricky. If Sccoter hundy he starts at 4. Otherwise Patty T.

Vaa’i or Holland at 5, both can play 80.

But I want impact at 55. For me Patty T is ideal for that. At some point we should try Holland coming on for 30 minutes of hard yards. Useful to have another impact option.

One option is play Vaa’i for 55, at which point he moves to 6.

Working out the best approach to 4/5/6 should be a big objective in Pumas matches.

    @pakman

Leaving out Holland while starting Kirifi, not playing the best blindside from the French series in that position and asking him to move there from lock once he’s fatigued all seems off to me.

There is scope for some mild experimentation in Pumas tests.

    That is tempered by fitness.

If everyone was 100, in one of the tests I’d like to see Holland & Barrett start, Vaa’i at 6 and Patty T storming on at 55/60.

Also like to see how Holland does coming off the bench.

@pakman yeah, I like PT and TV on at the same time, those two with Holland could be a great combination.

    2. Taylor
    3. Newell
    4. S Barrett (c)
    5. Holland
    6. Vaa'i
    7. Savea
    8. Sititi
    9. Ratima
    10. B. Barrett
    11. R. Ioane
    12. J. Barrett
    13. B. Proctor
    14. W. Jordan
    15. R. Love

    1. Taukei'aho
    2. Norris
    3. Tosi
    4. Tuipolutu
    5. Lakai
    6. Preston
    7. DMac
    8. Tavatavanawai

Yeah I agree. Lakai only got on a plane to Argentina today so he won’t play the first test.

Yep likewise with Parker I guessing, if he gets run will be off bench in 2nd test.

    Any odds out there?

Can’t see Argentina putting up much of a fight based on the English tour

Argentina did beat the Lions and have beaten the All Blacks twice in recent year. Dangerous opponents.

A bit like the French, on their day the Argies can beat anyone. We will have to be on our game.

No it wasn’t they had all their players who play in France out, they are all back for the RC.
