All Blacks v Argentina I

Without Will Jordan and Jordie Barrett we got nothing in the backline.
They are the only two players in there who have both the reputation AND perform to a level commensurate with that reputation consistently.
The rest are journeymen, players on probation (Proctor), players over staying welcomes and/or teacher pet picks.
A high performance unit it is not.
Ireland, England, France, South Africa et al would not be banging down the door to take Reece, Beaudy, Rieko, Finlay Christie, ALB or Proctor off our hands.

Their depth is absolute crap. The players you mentioned above would make the Irish 23.

And despite all the talk of being more bold in selections, test match rugby being a big man's game and learning various lessons from in his time so far as coach, he'll be falling into the exact same trap as last year - where the All Blacks won three of their six Rugby Championship games, thinking experience trumps all, only selecting more inexperienced players when forced to and sticking with players who have been on the decline for years.

Rokocoko, Ben Smith, Nonu, Sivivatu, Jane, Dagg, Mils, Savea, Rico Gear, Carter etc
Historically teams would bite our hands off for any of those players. All our players were "World 15" candidates.
Now you'd be hard pressed on a bar stool to convince the guy beside you that any of our bunch are "world class".

I guess Christie and ALB are there as more of a replacement, than an impact in my opinion. Both the payers they will replace are very inexperienced, so they could come on sooner than later if needed.
Dmac will bring some impact.
So not too upset with it. I'd sooner have some impact instead of experience though, but can see why they have done it.
Starting backline is about as good as we can put out right now. -

You'd think, but it probably doesn't matter until RM is back.
Nothing does. Everything is basically a rehearsal til then.

ALB's bench impact consists of penalties, errors and yellow cards.
You would like to think he is on notice but I doubt it - much more likely is that he is part of the tenured AB group who don't seem to be under selection pressure (of which there are a few)
ALB has racked up 86 tests.
He’s still just 30 so will probably comfortably get over the ton despite being distinctly vanilla in the last few years

I was done with this lad, and Beaudy and Goodhue and Reece after the 2019 RWC.
I cannot believe some of them are still around.
Goodhue only isn’t cos he got injured. If not he’d be there too

Disagree. For all the ALB hate by some on here, the fact that Reece continues to be selected is more of a problem. It's not like he has been scoring tries for fun for the ABs and running sideways or making ineffective pick and goes doesn't work at test level. FFS give Narawa an opportunity.

Though it doesn’t help that Reece has continually out performed other NZ wingers during Super Rugby. If you took last super rugby season in isolation, you’d pick Reece to start on one wing. The chiefs wingers during the final were completely out classed

Finau may need to play Number 8 in the second half.
Not sure why they rate Kirifi so highly. Not sure his three appearances against the French justified him being given the All Blacks 7 jersey for this one.
Excluding Lakai, who else would you give it to? We don't have many options atm.
Someone put a highlights package of Kirifi's first test start in Hamilton and for me he was actually pretty bloody busy, but as much as I'm a Kirifi fan I think it's inevitable that he'll step aside for Lakai from next week.
