    really ropey refereeing

    Please explain?

Blatant in from the side to clean out the ruck for Oz first try

    Forward pass for Wilson try

SA hot on attack, Oz turnover the ball, forward pass from JOC about 10 yards from his own line puts Wright away which results in a 5m lineout

Sliding doors I know but that’s where the momentum really shifted

    Oz scored soon after

And no questionable decisions in South Africa's favour?

Plenty, but not as impactful as those

SA must still be in credit with BOK after the RWC.

Wallabies skipper Wilson out; flyer set for debut

Wallabies skipper Wilson out; flyer set for debut

Wallabies skipper Harry Wilson will not face the Springboks in Cape Town, but Brumbies flyer Corey Toole is finally set to be rewarded for successive seasons of strong Super Rugby form.

I don’t think BOK reffed offside properly in first 20. It seems that at some point he got the call to check Boks creeping at ruck time. After a couple of such penalties their rush was markedly less effective.

Wobblies will regret leaving LSL out.

Definitely a plan from Schmidt to do with the bench.

Not promoting Bell, Kellaway, or Gleeson into the starting lineup indicates he likes a particular way to finish the game? 🤔

@NTA in presser Joe said easier to integrate Toole as starter.

    No Gleeson, instead NCDC.

Lack of locking horsepower to me makes scrum vulnerable.

But maybe Joe is banking on routing Boks lineout.

If maul defence holds up will be interesting..

What is his perceived weakness? Inaccuracy? Core functions? From the outside looking in he's the sort of starting or bench forward who'd relish meeting the boks fire for fire...

@nostrildamus He’s a good no. 2 to come on after WILL. Maybe Schmidt’s team don’t rate his lineout work?

LSL can be a penalty magnet.

Williams better at lineout as you indicated

The Wallabies defensive lineout was excellent last weekend. I think that will be a real focus again.

I’m not sold on LSL but there is something to work with that could turn out to be a decent test player.

Until the mid-week Lions games, LSL had largely been a passenger. A big body whose impact was minimal. Think he could add something if he can consistently replicate the form he showed in those matches but one swallow doesn't make a season so can see why Schmidt hasn't rushed him into the team.

Nick Champion de Crespigny is a good substitute for what LSL brings. But the omission of Gleeson will be hard to plug - he's certainly more physical than most of the substitutes we've seen recently.

    Forward pass for Wilson try

Checked by ref, touchie and TMO. At worst it was flat.

Everything else you raised is at best 50/50.

It may be the least controversial reffing performance this year. BOK did a great job, policed both sides well and has escaped any criticism in a game South Africa lost at home (which they generally take... poorly).

So if that game qualifies to you as 'ropey refereeing' you shouldn't watch rugby.

I thought it was blatantly forward. Couldn’t believe they let it go after review. When he said backwards out of the hands I almost spat out my BLT

That said, I also thought the Boks were off their feet at pretty much every ruck in that opening 15 minute blitz

Genuinely I think the camera angle lent itself to the pass looking more forward than it was.

Then you layer on BOK and touchie being in line and the TMO having multiple camera angles, and I think it’s time to admit the lounge might not be the best place to make that call.
