I reckon Rassie will double down, they'll definitely try and correct the mistake of going too wide too early and will try and commit the aussies around the ruck but i reckon he's too stubborn to change their 'new total rugby' style
If they'd been a little more restrained they would have probably won the game
I thought i read something recently about Rassie wanting to reinvent their game for the next cycle - not wanting to stay the same - I don't think one loss will throw him off course as it is somewhat inevitable that this kind of change goes too far on some occassions. I expect them to tighten up around the breakdown a bit and hit the one out to commit defenders, then go wide.
Whenever i type something like that it always feels like the most obvious statement in the world and what every team is trying to do...
The final quarter was interesting to see Bok players out on their feet like they were running on quick sand. Conditions did seem heavyish but not to the level to make a number of good players look ordinary
Watching Kriel unable to keep up with play for Wilsons try was pretty weird viewing

My "conspiracy" theory is maybe Rassie has been thrashing the snot out of them with view to tapering for the ABs. Making sure the powder remains dehydrated.

Will be interesting to see how the boks respond, was it a one off bad day or are there cracks appearing ?
while I think they have clearly been number 1 based on results I believe the gap between them and the chasing pack in ability has been closer than many bok supporters think and it will only take small margins of change for there to be no gap , just my opinion. -

That's always my favourite theory after any loss. The most comforting thing as a fan to think 'well it's clearly because we worked TOO hard before the game, with an eye to the bigger games to come'.
Yeah it'd be pretty hard to believe the springboks were focusing on the number 2 ranked team and not peaking for the 57th ranked team.

The Boks have been overrated for ages. Not saying they aren't one of the top teams, but they've never been "ahead of the pack", they have been very much in the pack since before the RWC. Their RWC win was reliant on us missing two very kickable penalties, despite playing 15 v 14 for the majority of the match. A team that was so far ahead of the pack would have won that game comfortably with the 1 man advantage.
I think this match is going to be close as hell. The Aussies are full of confidence, they were excellent against the best of the North and probably deserved to win that series, and after last weekends win they have nothing to lose. The Boks on the other hand have to try to revert to type as they got exposed badly, which doesn't tend to lead to them blowing teams off the park. And if Aus are still in the game with 15 to go... she's all on.

really ropey refereeing
Please explain?
Blatant in from the side to clean out the ruck for Oz first try
Forward pass for Wilson try
SA hot on attack, Oz turnover the ball, forward pass from JOC about 10 yards from his own line puts Wright away which results in a 5m lineout
Sliding doors I know but that’s where the momentum really shifted
Oz scored soon after

And no questionable decisions in South Africa's favour?

Plenty, but not as impactful as those

I don’t think BOK reffed offside properly in first 20. It seems that at some point he got the call to check Boks creeping at ruck time. After a couple of such penalties their rush was markedly less effective.

@NTA in presser Joe said easier to integrate Toole as starter.
No Gleeson, instead NCDC.
Lack of locking horsepower to me makes scrum vulnerable.
But maybe Joe is banking on routing Boks lineout.
If maul defence holds up will be interesting..

Wobblies will regret leaving LSL out.
What is his perceived weakness? Inaccuracy? Core functions? From the outside looking in he's the sort of starting or bench forward who'd relish meeting the boks fire for fire...

@nostrildamus He’s a good no. 2 to come on after WILL. Maybe Schmidt’s team don’t rate his lineout work?
