Here’s the backline as it stands at the moment. Could be a late change, couldn’t get names around that. Same as last week apart from the forced ALB change.
- Ratima
- B.Barrett
- Ioane
- J.Barrett
- Proctor
- Reece
- Jordan
Bench
21. Christie
22. Dmac
23. TupaeaChristie is a crap selection.
I'd love to see Ruben Love and Leroy Carter given some game time. Not sold on BB over DMac.
Of that backline only Jordie Barrett and Will Jordan have been world class or anything like it in the four Tests so far this year.
A better performance from the backs heading into the Springboks test is essential.

It could be that they want Christie to have max minutes (shudder) because they don't see either Roigard or Hotham being available
I tend to think this is the view.
Hotham has already been ruled out for a few more games I'm sure and with a foot fracture it's highly likely Roigard is unavailable for Eden Park.
-
I have seen some informed speculation that Josh Lord will be on the bench.

All Blacks team to play Argentina: Will Jordan, Sevu Reece, Billy Proctor, Jordie Barrett, Rieko Ioane, Beauden Barrett, Cortez Ratima, Simon Parker, Ardie Savea, Tupou Vaa'i, Fabian Holland, Scott Barrett (capt), Fletcher Newell, Codie Taylor, Ethan de Groot.
Reserves: Samisoni Taukei'aho, Tamaiti Williams, Pasilio Tosi, Josh Lord, Wallace Sititi, Finlay Christie, Quinn Tupaea, Damian McKenzie.

Everyone has been asking for a bigger loose forward trio, there you have it. Who covers 7?
I think this would have been a perfect opportunity to have Leroy Carter off the bench covering wing and halfback, then we would could of had an extra loosie in Lakai.
-
@Canes4life i guess expectation is Ardie goes 80 as always, Parker has played 7 for the Chiefs...
Great he's getting a debut, surprised it is starting!!
Congrats to Parker on his upcoming debut and Taylor on his ton!!!
-
Pretty happy with the loose forwards. I did kind of expect either Kirifi or Lakai to be on the bench alongside Sititi to cover openside though. It’ll be interesting to see who plays the full game out of Parker and Vaa’i.
I continue to be disappointed with some of the backline selections - Christie, Reece and Barrett - but I’m not at all surprised they’ve all been retained.

Sititi obviously covers 7.
This looks a pretty handy forward pack. Let's see how they go.
Not sure it was that obvious, has he played there before?
-
Why has DMac become out of favour from the end of last year when he was playing well?
-
Is that the biggest front row in world rugby coming off the bench?
