Is that the biggest front row in world rugby coming off the bench?

You have to wonder if everyone is fit, does Kirifi even get any more minutes for the remainder of the year?

Why has DMac become out of favour from the end of last year when he was playing well?

Shitting the bed in the Super Final probably didn’t help his cause.

At least that bench looks like it should provide a positive impact.

The turnaround in the forward pack over the last 12 months is quite remarkable.

I’d say Lakai will be preferred over him now that he’s fit.

It feels like we're willing to give opportunities to players in the forwards - start even,
but remain super conservative in the backs even though we're flakey.

Everyone has been asking for a bigger loose forward trio, there you have it. Who covers 7?

I think this would have been a perfect opportunity to have Leroy Carter off the bench covering wing and halfback, then we would could of had an extra loosie in Lakai.

Yes, Leroy Carter is a perfect player to have on the bench. If Proctor does not convince once again, maybe Ioane could replace him for the SA games, thus making room for Carter on the left wing.

Surely NZ has a better fourth choice halfback option than Christie? What about Fakatava? And why the lack of imagination or willingness to at least roll the dice a little with the backs overall? Something badly wrong with the coaching set up

    Sititi obviously covers 7.

This looks a pretty handy forward pack. Let's see how they go.

Not sure it was that obvious, has he played there before?

Yes. Has played npc and under-age at 7.

Well personally I quite like the team. Real happy with Parker getting start, seem to be carrying on with size thing, which I like. I must admit I would of perhaps had a different reserve halfback, but can also understand Razor and co being a little conservative with selection for the in case if Ratima got injured early. Maybe they not convinced about Presto's ability to drive the team for long amount of time. Kind of only real reason I can think of.
But altogether, I give them a thumbs up .

It would probably be unheard of to have a rookie covering such a crucial position in test rugby when he's not even known for it at any level, let alone being known for any other position.

    But yeah, hurricanes!

Excited about Parker, really surprised to see him start ahead of Sititi though. Big ol' forward pack with a very mobile finish.

I think your point would be valid if the guy coming off the bench wasn’t a risk himself.

What does Iose have to do with Christie?

My suggestion was to have a bench of Taukei’aho, Williams, Tosi, Lord, Sititi, Lakai, Carter and McKenzie, forming our own bomb squad. Perfect test to try it.

You’re too conservative in your old age.

@Canes4life The idea is good but given Carter doesn't perform that role at super level it is a massive risk to try it in test rugby though
