The Experiement - Adrian Brody, Forrest Whitaker

Dude loses his job and meets hot girl. she is off to India for enlightenment, he answers an ad for an experiment to be put into a controlled Prison environment for 14 days @ $1,000 per day.

6.5/10
This is a remake. The original was pretty bloody good. Better than 6.5/10 IMO. Haven't seen this version but if you don't mind subtitles you should give the original a watch. -
will have a look fo rit...watched The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, am sure I can handle another subtitled flick...speaking if them, anyone seen 'The Secret is in thier eyes' is an Argentine Thriller, won best foreign film at the Academy's this year, keep thinking I should hunt it out at the dvd shop!
Two movies that are relatively new - are quite similar.

A-Team and Losers.

A-Team - not a bad remake of the original. Thought they did pretty well with getting characters to match the originals. Not a bad movie as far as corny action movies go.
Losers, follows a pretty similar story. Ex CIA operatives who have been framed, fight back to clear their name. Not as many stars as the A-Team, but I probably enjoyed this one more.

Both worth a watch.
It's a bit hard in the A Team to compare the two, The Losers gets an automatic extra point just for having Stringer Bell in the cast (idris Elba). -

First time I'd heard of or seen him and I'm a huge fan now. -

WTF, am I reading that correctly? You haven't watched The Wire? Go to church say a thousand hail mary's and a thousand how's your fathers.
Go to DVD sore, online, Tivo, whatever and watch the bloody show.

Your quality of life will have improved immensely.

Ps: I've seen the first ep of Luther on an AirNZ plane. It was goodish. -

Do watch it (it's very, very good), but feel free to skip the final season. -

Nah, you have to watch the final season, just compare it with Sopranos and Mad Men, not with the 4 previous seasons. In fact just remove one of the subplots and it's back up to the same level. -
Think I watched the 1st episode, then got distracted by Generation Kill and never got back to it!

As it happens, the Church has moved around the corner to Clapham...
Generation kill occupies that one wrung just below The Wire. The key with it is that you have to concentrate. -
The Last Airbender - visually this was pretty cool, some cool effects. Story and acting was so-so, not sure I'll bother with the next movies when they come out.
-
-
The Last Airbender (the Avatar) is a rare breed that can use all 4 elements (Air, Water, Fire, Earth) The Avatar only knows how to use Air and Water at the moment, and the Fire People still want to get him....
-
Be even more surprised if M.Night.Shitfilms gets to sit in the directors chair again as well.
Yep. I refuse to watch any more of his films until I've seen a consensus of good reviews. I liked The Sixth Sense and thought Unbreakable was ok, but everything else has just been pointless. -
I just watched The Town. Bloody good movie in the same vibe as the other Boston crime movies (The Departed, Mystic River, Gone Baby Gone etc).
Starred and directed by Ben Affleck, who I actually think is a good actor when playing these types of roles, and is a good director with the potential to be one the greats.

Movie is a little but like Heat in that it has bank heists, but it doesn't compare unfavourably. I'd give it a solid 8/10.

The other actor in it is Jeremy Renner from Hurt Locker. I don't know whether it's because of Hurt Locker which I thought was horribly overrated (in many respects this could be a reflection due to the fact I had just finished watching Generation Kill so HL seemed un dramatic), or if the guy just annoys me, but his performance was the one I thought fell flat - yet all the critics will laud it.

As long as Affleck stays away from Superheroes and Jennifer Lopez, I look forward to seeing his directorial efforts in the future, the time must be coming soon when he directs Damon (who could have performed the Renner role in this movie actually.) -
Beneath Hill 60; war flick based on the true story of an Aussie tunnelling company charged with getting under Hill 60 to blow up the Germans in the largest explosion ??? outside of Hiroshima IIRC.

Is quite slow to start, but ends up alright, 7/10.
