Commit DMac to 10 for this year
With respect, he's had plenty of chances too and hasn't done the job. So he's not good enough, BB is completely passed it, and the alleged prodigal son RM is flakey as f. Is there seriously not a single 10 in NZ who can kick the shit out of the ball and distribute? I'd take a poor man's Grant Fox at this stage.
They had one. And let Plummer leave before he was even given the chance to try out for the position

@Rancid-Schnitzel I agree we are nowhere near where we were in 2015 for all sort of structural reasons but we should still doing a damn sight better than the slop that was served up yesterday.
The player led environment that Henry fostered only worked when you had leaders to drive it. If the leaders aren’t there in NZ rugby to create the right environment, it is up to the coaches to take that responsibility back to create it. But will the players accept that? Is that where there is friction maybe, e.g. players have been over empowered based on what has gone before rather than what they are now capable of?
Remember Messam and McCaw were at training in the dying embers of Fosters tenure?
Next game it was all black boots and a good performance.
Who from this squad would you call in to oversee training in say 2030?

Beauden Barrett is like going to watch Paul McCartney in concert.
The halcyon days are over, we remember them being fun, but he cant hit the high notes any more.
Jonny Sexton could run the cutter as a geriatric as he knew exactly what he was doing for the next 5 or 6 phases. He coached the team around the park at walking pace and was into the ref and opposition for everything.
Beaudy gets the ball and his brain is like
-
Remember in one of the French tests Beaudy was in the bin and Jordie ran the cutter for 10 minutes.
We looked good and I think outscored the French in that period?Similarly yesterday we actually looked alrite when down to 13!
When these players revert to damage limitation, rugby by numbers mode, they are not too bad.
Left to their own devices with a blank canvas they are a bunch of headbangers.
Jordie's left footed chip kick yesterday an example. Just tuck and truck mate. Recycle. Live to fight another day.

Did Vaaii get binned?
Yes
jaysis. the feed im watching on had ref mic but no pictures.
Berry is some gimp.
I've replayed this twice. Vaa'i has both arms around Montoya. Berry needed to check that, because can't see any sign of Vaa'i batting the ball forward.
There was no other angle but it just seems like a regulation tackle
I have looked at it again and he wraps his arms in the tackle. I have seen it many times and I cant see an attempted pass by Matera.
Its baffling tbh

Fast blokes on the wings sounds elementary to me.
Sivivatu got 46 caps.
Rico Gear got 20.
Hosea Gear got 15.
Milner Skudder got 13.No
I composed that post poorly. I wasnt implying NMS was fast, just that wingers were quite disposable historically.
Once the pixie dust is used up, get them gone.

Id honestly pay McCaw, Thorn, Kaino and Nonu to just come to training and stand there watching.
Dont say anything. Just stand there.
Let the current rabble know how much of a fucking embarrassment they are.
Let them see the faces of some of the blokes who bled for the shirt.Playing for or captaining the Allblacks is a privilege not a right.

19-13 Argentina
At this point, BB missed a sitter. Stupid penalty for closing inside 10 at lineout on OUR ball, and marginal shortcut by Jordan at passive ruck on halfway.
Pumas six points for nothing pens and we miss three for bad one right in front.
At 55 Pumas should never have been in front.

We have turned into the civil service.
We owe Beaudy, ALB, Rieko, Reece et al nothing. They didnt win a Lions tour or a World Cup for us.
They have had a good innings.....ages ago.
Same with Scooter.....another loss or 2 and he should be stripped. Heck id strip him now.
THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE THE ALL BLACKS.
Razor and Scooters post match presser was an embarrassment in both content and body language.
Meek.

Does it seem like there is a niceness to how the All Blacks operate these days? Its feels like the reason the older, past their best players are kept around is because getting rid of them would be mean.
That's the vibe I get about Robertson in general, that he is a really nice bloke who likes his players and wants to be liked. The comment about the yellow cards essentially came across like him not wanting to hold players accountable for their mistakes. So he deflects away to looking into them.
He says when players are dropped that those phone calls are tough conversations, maybe he should put less emotion in it and just delegate those calls to someone else. I know that he has relationships with the players and he wants to preserve and maintain them but maybe being a little more ruthless would be a better approach.
-
I've only seen the highlights and within that short view it looked like the discipline was very unlike normal service for NZ. Not just teh cards, but some pretty unnecessary penalties halting momentum or putting the pressure on. Would that be an accurate reflection of the game as a whole?

Everything about them is nice.
All clean shaven. Smell lovely. Golfing. Photo Shoots. Boca Juniors or Chicago Bulls games.
When Holland got selected he was filmed getting the phone call going "holy hecker".
id be shouting "get in there ya kant" "fuckin deadly".
They are media trained robots, devoid of personality, helping opposition players back onto their feet.
There needs to be the odd arsehole in the squad.
It really hit home to me when Kurt Lee Arendse upended Beaudy onto his neck a few years back.
It looked horrific. Not one Allblack grabbed a collar.

He is going to lose his job if he doesnt grow a spine soon.
And as for that lad Scott Hansen. David Brent-esque corporate jargon spoofer.
-
@Jet David Brent and the Invisible Man (Jason Holland) must be skating on very thin ice.
We should have fired them rather than Rangi last year.
Unless there is a quick improvement, I'd sack them and bring in guys like Cory Jane or Tabai Matson.

This is the thing that I don’t get with Beaudy, ALB, Rieko, Reece in particular. Coaches value their experience so much but they have failed numerous times in big matches and have been clearly inferior to their opposites. I was accused of hating Reece because I said he and Reiko and ALB have not shown enough at this level. Let’s just rip the bandaid instead of trying to carry the to 100 tests.

Man, you are dead right about that.
One of the hallmarks of AB rugby was that hard nose mentality that a Laurie Mains or Grizz Wylie type of character brought to the table. Didn't smile much but they demanded the best out of their charges.
Beaver was basically ignored by Henry in Europe after Hong Kong in 2010. Its kind of harsh to treat people like that but in a high performance, cutthroat environment it's what you more or less have to do in order to maintain standards.
