BF's 9 should have been pinged for feeding that scrum. Never straight.

    Doesn't have to be

@booboo Okay, bad choice of words. Feeding the scrum is the Half Back's job.

She was in breach of Law 19.15 f. You can't throw it straight to your Lock.

Brazier is more impotent and pointless now than she was a decade ago. She really screams "amateur era".

Having now watched the game, all she offers now is as a passer. Absolutely no threat to run. Telling also that Holmes can kick further with her left foot than Brazier does off her right.

The loose forwards were all impressive. Miller might be better in the midfield with more space.

A shame about Olsen-Baker. Mia Anderson or Taufa Bason will be next in line.

Watched about 50 minutes of this then fast forwarded the rest.

I thought Spain were good value compared to some of the other small nations - defensive alignment was particularly good for their level.

BFs a bit flat. Game management in the halves wasn't particularly good. Still a thrashing.

I thought Miller and Mikaele-Tu'u were outstanding. They were everywhere. Agreed on Brazier though. Didnt offer much.
Big takeaway from the game will be finishing with 13 players on the park, for about 30 mins. They had to dig deep.

How have the Black Ferns not found a better five-eighth?

Why the fuck are we wearing white anyway?

To prove that black is indeed "slimming"?

    @Bovidae

    Was thinking the same thing.
Rate Miller as just about the most natural rugby player i've ever seen (male or female).
I'm assuming she might have had a bit of a say in which position she'd play when she crossed over to XV's.
But i'd like to see her at 12, bit more room.
You get f'n smashed playing 7 nowdays!

She spent most of her time there in this match anyway. Actually, it was more wing. Like some old bloke told her she was playing "wing forward" and she took the first bit literally.

That isn't a criticism, I think it is a good tactic and deliberate (probably comes from coaches as well that she can roam) but might be an issue against decent packs that have 8 players in them, and we are using just 7.

Miller was a 7 in her previous time in XVs. Yet to play England, France or Canada, which will be a much bigger test up front.

Only if whoever she's passing to is standing right next to her, even then they'll probably have to scoop it up from their shins.

Olsen-Baker's ankle is not broken so she might not be out of the tournament.

Sorry ... she plays 6 yeah?

With Jorja at 7 pushing Kennedy Simon to 6 (she still there?) or Sae who is not awful. Not campaign ending.

@Snowy playing two forwards on the edge in a 1-3-3-1 formation.

Allows a bit of mismatch out wide

Watching Hollie Davidson ref makes me wince occasionally. I don't think her handing of RSA v Brazil painted her as the best ref in women's rugby.

Ella Goldsmith from Australia used to ref local women's 7s tournaments here in Sydney about the time I first got qualified. Seeing her on the world stage is pretty cool. Great temperament but no shock as she's a country girl 😉

RSA have really come on in the last 12 months. It is clear the players are soaking up info and experiences like a sponge. Good structure and better technique compared to last time I saw them almost draw with Japan

Canada thrashed the Welsh women 42-0 so the Welsh women are heading to the door with one game left.
