    Those ratings look suspiciously high.

@antipodean IMDB ratings do tend to be on the high side, so taking that into account, some quality in that list....

    F1: The Movie

Tremendous cinematography capturing the cars and giving the sensation of close, competitive racing. So that's the first liberty Hollywood has taken. The other is laughably inept plot where a 60 year old man wins a F1 Grand Prix after committing so many heinous transgressions he'd have his super licence suspended if the team hadn't already sacked him

Cue up another win for DEI. A pointless (and according to Mrs Antipodean, insulting) portrayal of a female engineer/ pit mechanic. A team principal who feels the need to operate a car jack. A technical director (think Adrian Newey) running strategy on the pit wall.

So if you're a fan of F1, it's comedically unrealistic. If you're not, then it's Top Gun Maverick on the track, but unwittingly a little more Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby.

don't disagree but it's fucking awesome. And i think my review was more Days of Thunder with computers.

If i want to watch documentaries i will watch documentaries, i want movies to be fun. And this is fucking fun.

I can't say i've seen that many on the list, but totally agree. Take Charlize Theron. I like Fury Road, but surely Monster is her best performance?

I think that list was designed to annoy me, and it mostly did. 🙂

Last two movies I saw I went in knowing nothing about them.

The Life of Chuck: Based on a Stephen King short story, not horror, but philosophical I guess (yeah I know I sound movie piston wristed gibbon when I say that), told in a reverse three act structure. I quite enjoyed, had no idea what was going on the first act and then the second and third acts revealed more. Stars Loki as Chuck.

Relay: A thriller about whistleblowers, was a decent turn your brain off and watch, there's a bit of a twist near the end that I saw coming a mile away. Stars Lily James, Riz Ahmed and Sam Worthington.

Me too. I’d say close to half of those are flicks I’d have no desire to see.

…..and as for some of the omissions…..

I had no idea of it's rating so it wasn't overrated to me. It's what I try (not always successfully) to do with most movies.

I have a fucking friend who wont see anything without consulting IMDB first, so he's letting some idiots on the internet choose what he sees for him.

Ah right. If I'd gone in thinking it was going to be awesome I assume I would have been a bit disappointed, but as I had no baseline it was an enjoyable two hours (well confusing first 40 mins).

For me Tom Cruise was brilliant in that movie and I'm not normally a fan.

    Rebel Moon - Part 1 - Director's Cut

    • Fuck me... first thought - Zack Snyder is a high-functioning retard
    • Nope... to be fair, he's probably just VERY high on the ADHD scale, and the shit he does would definitely resonate with similar folk - that's not necessarily a bad thing, just... not my brain-wave-stylez
    • 13 year old me would love this shit. I'm pretty sure I've said this before - every single scene/shot looks like it could/should be a poster on a 13yo boy's wall
    • Everything else... doesn't make a lick of sense
    • I know it was originally derided as a Star Wars knock-off... but on this watch - it was much more of a Seven Samurai knock-off. Wanting to be Dune. Plus the hints of Star Wars (The Hidden Fortress), and I got hints of something else I couldn't click to... I get the impression the Snyder did some coke and decided to make a sci-fi mash-up of about 3 or 4 japanese classics.
Not looking forward to part 2... I've never watched the cinema-edit, will probably watch the director's edit first, then circle back to a slightly more sane version.

Tit-watch: non-zero. And more 'impressive' than expected after the very early un-flattering shots of the relevant lass in overalls.
