Rubicon is good, but it starts very slowly.
<br />
They did have a change of showrunner between the pilot and the 2nd episode which added to this. It really has picked up pace in the last two. Rubicon is one of those shows (like Lost or BSG) where you have to pay attention, and also think a bit. If you are twittering, surfing the web and only watching with half your attention you will miss a fair bit. It is an intelligent, and nuanced show.

S3 of True Blood finished last night in NZ. <br />
<br />
While again, have enjoyed the series, I thought the finale was pretty average, and while this is a series with Vampires, Werewolves, Shapeshifters, Demons, Faeries etc, I thought it started to veer off with too much going on?? Is hard to put in words, but almost like it is just adding in more mythical beings to give more options for stories...?

It was a crap finale, of a overall pretty weak season. I might be done with True Blood. Far too many new characters introduced that are there in random story lines that then get abandoned. Perfect example being the high school quarterback tangent. Added nothing to the overall story arc, was kind of just abandoned. Example two Eric giving a car to Layfayette. Really? What a waste of time and pointless bit of the story. Useless filler. The only redeeming feature of the season for me was Denis O'Hare's portrayel of the King of Mississippi, Russel Edgington.

yeah he is very good!! <br />
<br />
It was like they were building for the next series (Lafayette and his boyfriend - unsure how to spell his name - literally 'Heyzeus') without this one really going anywhere.

Hows the 3rd series been going Rusty/Nepia? I am waiting until I have the complete series before I start watching (same goes for the new series of Dexter that started 3 weeks ago)

There has been one not so good episode, but a not so good SOA is better than most tv shows out there.

Yep, I've got Ep 6 to watch, but have to work tonight so wont be able to watch it until Friday night/Saturday. <br />
<br />
Boardwalk Empire had two really good episodes and then one dud one, hopefully it returns to form next week. I like the mix of actual people as characters. It's interesting that I like it as I really don't like the two main actors: Buscemi and Michael Pitt, who both normally annoy me. One really stupid part is Gretchen Mol playing the mother of the Pitt character even though she looks the same age as him - it's just stupid.<br />
<br />
Another show I'm enjoying is Terriers, a detective show set in San Diego about an ex cop and ex burglar as partners. It started off loght and breezy and has actually gotten quite dark in recent weeks.<br />
<br />
Also, if anyone hasn't watched Community yet then watch it now, it is consistently hilariously funny after the first two or three set-up episodes.

Downton Abbey - 3 episodes in, excellent period/costume drama. For those that enjoyed Upstairs Downstairs this is a similar.

Pretty much every new network show is pretty meh this year. The Event included. The only new shows I am enjoying this year are all on cable here. Boardwalk Empire and Terriers are pretty much the only new shows that I am really enjoying, and would be upset if they went away. The Walking Dead just premiered three days ago, and did huge numbers and was a good watch and was pretty cool, but it is only a 6 episode miniseries. It will be renewed as a full series shortly. Boardwalk Empire is really great, I find myself watching it live and DVRing Dexter (both on at the same time) on Sundays.

BTW, anyone else disappointed in Season 3 of Sons of Anarchy? Still watching, but could they drag out the Ireland/baby plotline anymore? The show is much more enjoyable when they are in Charming, and there are many story lines there that they can focus on.

Yeah it's gotten a bit dull and ridiculous. Who gives a fuck about Ireland (other than the writer or producer who has a huge hardon for belfast). Reminds me of the decline of The Shield a bit (I gave up after 3 seasons).

Just watched the 2nd, looking like a very quality show, genuinely scary without too much over the top cheesyness. Roll on episode 3!

Torrented episodes 1 and 2 - and just watched them today - outstanding start. Really like the characters that are being set up - the main lead reminds me of Jesse - from the comic "Preacher"<br />
<br />
Frank Darabont and Gale Ann Hurd both producing - so it's bound to be a good story. Rock on Episode 3
