After a massive shift last night and a few injury concerns, what’s everyone thinking for test 2 in Welly?

I wouldn’t make too many changes personally and I think Razor will stick with the majority of the 23 that got the job done last night.

Taylor probably won’t be playing and Narawa definitely won’t be so McCalister comes in.

    I’d go with:

    1. Williams
    2. Taukei’aho
    3. Newell (Lomax can continue to return off the bench for now)
    4. Barrett
    5. Va’ai
    6. Parker
    7. Savea
    8. Sititi
    9. Ratima/Christie
    10. Barrett
    11. Clarke
    12. Barrett
    13. Proctor
    14. Jordan
    15. Love
    16. McCalister
    17. De Groot
    18. Lomax
    19. Holland
    20. Jacobson
    21. Christie/Preston
    22. McKenzie
    23. Tupaea

Taylor is a big loss. I thought he was close to our best before he went off. Scrum was pretty solid too.

It would be great to hear an honest assessment from the front row on what was happening when we lost those scrums. We got robbed on a dominant scrum also, so it will be fascinating how that plays out next week.

@Canes4life any changes will be just covering for injury so not delving too deep into speculative selecting.

I think Dmac starting at 15 would be stronger. But agree with giving Love some game time.

I do prefer Jacobsen on bench to Kirifi. But would prefer another big body there, which by default is Finau.

        (FYI it's McAlister.)

        How does Rassie react?

Etzebeth and Snyman in. Does he have any other options? The bench last night was uninspiring by Saffa standards.

Surely after Finau’s dogshite performances in the NPC and ABs this year puts him firmly out of contention

Yep a big no to Finau. It’s either Lakai or Jacobson for me.

If we could have more of the tactics we employed in the first 20 minutes, and less of the rest, I'd be happy. Don't take the foot off the gas

Jacobson makes the most sense with Lakai still on the way back to full fitness (?). Or both, not sure why we aren’t doing the 6-2 bench considering the tactics employed last night

Taylor is a big loss. I thought he was close to our best before he went off. Scrum was pretty solid too.

It would be great to hear an honest assessment from the front row on what was happening when we lost those scrums. We got robbed on a dominant scrum also, so it will be fascinating how that plays out next week.

To balance out the Codie books we lost a couple of lineouts on his throws.

Yeah, I think there were a couple of scrums that we were penalised on that should have been resets but it seems the ref had decided we were the culprits of every collapsed scrum. Our scrum is usually pretty decent so I tend to think it was more an off night than a poor scrum - I guess we'll find out on Saturday.

@Nepia one of those lineout losses were dodgy. The Bok lifters threw one of their jumpers over to our side. Last time I checked that wasn’t allowed.

Just watched the PC with Ryan. Taylor is definitely out and Narawa will most probably be out too. Cortez is looking likely and even Hotham could be back for next week. Sounds like they will be bringing in Bell to replace Taylor.

I kind of wouldn't mind pushing Jordie back to 15 and having Tupaea starting 12 obviously then Jordan to wing with Clarke.
I would also start Dmac at 10 with BB on the bench (prefer Love but they won't drop BB)

I quite like changing to QT 12 JB 13 mid game.

@Nepia one of those lineout losses were dodgy. The Bok lifters threw one of their jumpers over to our side. Last time I checked that wasn’t allowed.

Yeah they were doing that most lineouts they won, it was smart as the ref didn't give a shit. I think the one you're talking about was so not straight they caught it on the AB side of the AB jumpers.

With those conditions and his relative strengths, the Boks would’ve been better served starting Reinach And playing him for the majority of the match.

Newell seemed to get schooled at scrum time by Ox?

The Springboks are angry and will be wanting to show a defiant response to losing at Eden Park. They will go after perceived vulnerabilities in our set piece work.

Great opportunity for the ABs to go 2-0 on the South Africans and to get one hand on the Rugby Championship.
