@gt12 yeah is an odd one, as I said above, I expect if those kids didnt wanna stay with thier dad, they could probably leave, and with the issues with custody and likely hood if they did get found they'd be placed in state care...

One of the ironies is that - in keeping the kids away from one alleged outcome - he himself has then ended up involving one of the kids in alleged robberies....

A person was interrupted in the middle of a burglary and was shot by police.

sad end, I'd wager the kids most likely wanted to be with thier dad, but now, the very thing he seemingly was on the run for, is the most likely outcome...but then you cant go around breaking into places, this was always a possbility, especially if he is shooting cops.

He has been suspected to have committed a few local burglaries.
Worse thing is he had been taking one of his kids along with him.

Hopefully they find the other 2 kids and the cop who was shot pulls through

reading the comments in the NZ Herald FB post is quite depressing and unsurprising at the same time
Its like hes some kind of hero now martyr.
He was and is not ever a victim, those poor kids are though.

@Virgil Yes, he clearly did not want to be caught and to fire that many rounds at Police showed he was clearly unwell and to do that in front of their child and put them at risk? Thoughts are with the officer who was shot.

The horrible thought was if the child had been shot accidentally whilst Police were firing on the offender. Thankfully that didn't happen but it was a real possibility.

Can understand the frustration/ anger at the whole system re the custody and that side, which is supposedly why he went on the run...but the burglaries and now shooting a cop, this was never gonna end well.

@voodoo Yeah I wonder how much conspiracy theory and hatred of government and authority has changed with the internet. Australia have had QLD, Tassie and now Victoria where Police have been shot by males who for whatever reason believe they have been unfairly targeted and hate the govt which leads them to believing violence against Police is the only course of action.
