    @Victor-Meldrew

    A criminally underrated film.

    Yep, one of my favourites.. Written with Stamp in mind apparently.

    Doubt anyone could have made the phrase "My name's Wilson" so threatening.

    @MiketheSnow Committed the cardinal sin of beating an ageing Henry Cooper and then not going on to be world champ. He was treated really poorly by the UK press and boxing fans. Was a really good fighter, unlucky to be fighting in the heavyweight golden era. Ali, Frazier, Foreman, Shavers. He fought them all too (not sure about Foreman now I come to think about it), anyway, never dodged anyone.

    Also fought well into his late 40s. Bit of a character too.

    Like lots of those fighters of the 70s would be more highly regarded if he fought today.

    RIP

    The only guys of that era I can think of who are still with us are George Chuvalo and Chuck Wepner. What a punishing way to make a living…..

    He was consistently criticised for not being aggressive enough in the ring. I guess that can happen when you've killed a guy in a bout.

    Boo.

    I thought he'd be older than 73.

    I thought he was chasing Foreman for a fight (had trained against him) and thought he could beat him but never got Foreman in the ring. I could be wrong.
    It is amazing the top quality and hardhitting guys he was up against. Very lucky or unlucky to be born in that golden era.

    The top ten from the 70s would all be champions today
