    I reckon the jury in the Gable Tostee trial is leaning toward acquitting him. They've leaned heavily on the judge for instructions the last couple of days. I think its quite telling that the judge gave two affirmations which seem to work in GT's favour. First, the judge affirmed that GT removing WW from his apartment onto his balcony (from which she almost immediately jumped) constitutes him removing her from his home. Second, the judge affirmed that words are not physical force when it comes to the question "did he use excessive force in removing her from his home" (at one point he allegedly said something like "I should chuck you off the balcony you goddamn psycho bitch").

    To me it looks like the jury is leaning toward acquitting him and they are working through the concerns of the holdouts, so that they can get a unanimous verdict.

    Fucking gripping stuff huh? Tostee is a douche, no doubt, but WW was nuttier than squirrel turd. Murder would be a travesty. Manslaughter still on the table.

    @Tregaskis It seems like a classic case of "We find the defendant Not Guilty your honour, but we still reckon you should find some minor punishment for him for not being entirely clean either"

    @Donsteppa
    haha yeah he is a giant turd, but I don't think he murdered her, doesn't the very definition of murder require pre-meditation and I would expect direct involvement, ie actually pushing her??

    Surely manslaughter woulda been much easier to prove, but I guess they had their reasons for going for murder?

    I think they're considering both murder and manslaughter.

    @Donsteppa I guess that comes down to the reporting of it again as most of the NZ Media I have seen talk about the murder trial??

    Yep, stuff and NZH are definitely angling that it should be murder. Several sides to it, all ridden with bias: NZer dies in Aussie's apartment, big boastful sex pest vs petite woman, moralising over the Tinder generation.

    But, I haven't read any other publications which are pro-Tostee. He's kind of poison.

    @Tregaskis Even if he gets off he will have to deal with the notoriety. Perhaps he can bunk in with Keith Murdoch?

    even manslaughter seems odd - wouldn't it set a dangerous precedent for anyone doing something stupid when they're hammered and getting killed - whoever is with them at fault?

    I could understand if he had her bent over the balcony and pounded her over the edge by accident... but locking someone on your balcony? You're not exactly in life threatening danger are you.. he wasn't coming after her he chucked her out there to calm down

    @WillieTheWaiter I just dont get why he didnt chuck her out of the door into the hall, rather the deck...I guess the thing is, his actions have lead to her death.

    Result due out shortly I believe

    Not guilty of either was the verdict.

    A good verdict might have been "Not Guilty But You're Still A Piece Of Shit"

    Locking someone who is wound up out on a high balcony to "calm down" is at best fucking thick. As @taniwharugby notes, much better the hallway!
