    weird weekend.
Friday's game was close but all sorts of ordinary really, sort of fitting an intercept put it away. I thought the Bulldogs would be vulnerable to Penrith anyway, but with their additional injuries i think they are cooked.
We've all had our say on the poor old Wahs.
Not many would have picked the Sharks to dominate the Roosters like that, they definitely fed it to their critics.

Yesterday was just insane, partly thanks to Mr Main Character energy Ash Klein. From penalising Canberra in the first 3 tackles for something that happened all game, to his absolute fucking up of the Walsh/Young incident, he's a complete tool and it's astounding how he gets all the big gigs.
I honestly fear for Canberra, that result yesterday will be soul destroying. They thought they had won that game 3 fucking times, and lost. Huge credit to Brisbane. Down by heaps, at one point played with 11, away from home against a good side that was incredible. Reece Walsh is an absolute flog, and he can't play defense, but holy shit does he have unreal talent.
Can the Raiders pick themselves up and beat a suddenly very confident Sharks outfit?

For me probably AFBs best game for the Sharks, thought he was pretty average through the season, but led them very well when it mattered.
How Walsh gets away with that head butt is beyond me, I have to agree with Sticky on this, if Tapine or Young headbutts Walsh, we would be talking about how many weeks they get.

In saying that he singlehandedly brough them back into a game they had all but lost. Cracking match and agree I don't think the Raiders come back from that, but they have been the most consistent all year, so still a chance. Wonder if Hosking regrets getting a little to close to the leg on that final charge down attempt.. so many moments but that one was in their own control

The Panthers v Dogs game is going to be wild. Not a fan of either but there’s likely to be some fireworks.

Sharks play a style that not too dissimilar to the Broncos could trouble the Raiders.

          Dogs and Raiders to win.

Whereas that result made me almost as happy as a Brumbies loss.

this Smith thing is the biggest beat up far out. Someone clearly has it out for him.

The Radley thing is interesting, the Roosters don't give a fuck about off-field so clearly they are using an excuse to move someone off their books to free cap space.

So Canberra get bounced from the comp in straight sets.

Has that happened to the minor premiers before? Probably, but I can’t remember it happening.

@Gunner Vossy said it also happened in 2009 with the Dragons (who lost to the 8th placed Eels - eventual grand finalists - on week 1 under the old system, before losing to the Broncos the week after) and in 1993 with the Bulldogs (who lost to both eventual grand finalists - the Dragons one week and then the Broncos the next - under the top 5 system)

Yeah 09 was the Jarryd Hayne season where he almost carried the Eels to the title from obscurity. It forced a change in the finals system rules when the Dragons went out in straight sets too, for the better might I add, as the previous year, the Wahs tipped Melbourne over in Melbourne as the 8th seed and then beat the Roosters the next week to make the last 4 that year, thus giving the 1st seed bugger all reward under the old McIntyre system.

Funny at work with an AFL diehard, I said this could well happen to Canberra (I thought they might have at least made the last 4 at best), he predicted that Adelaide would go out in straight sets.

Adelaide seem to have the same problem as Canberra this season, lack of finals experience?

fuckin Penrith are going to win the comp. They were insanely good yesterday, error-free first half that put the game to bed nice and early. This is the problem that teams like the Dogs and Wahs have, you can't play Panther-tribute footy and beat the masters at it. They just grind you to death and then capitalise when you get tired. They are so incredibly fit, and their outside backs are so fucking good at starting every set. But it's their defense, they win every contact, then push you back a metre or so every tackle, and you just give away more and more field position until you crack.

Brisbane can beat them because they don't play that way, they'll play fast and really attack the panthers edges, that game on Sunday will be a belter (how good is afternoon footy?).

The Sharks are a real chance in Melbourne. I am surprised and impressed with their standard in teh finals, they've been really good. They've finally tightened their defense, and their halves have finally settled in to different roles. Melbourne have been clunky for a while, and are down on troops, they have to be vulnerable.
