@Catogrande said in Womens RWC 2025:

Saw the highlights and was impressed by the Canadians. Whoever gets through to meet them will have to play well to beat them in the final.

Interesting in teh immediate build up to the Ferns' first try, almost a copycat clear out at the ruck on the jackalling player a la Morgan by the Ferns. Only difference was that there were two on the clear out rather than the lone Morgan.

    Nothing said. And rightly so.

Canada were the much better team yesterday and thoroughly deserved their win.

But they were allowed by the referee to get away with being offside in defence and off their feet at the rucks repeatedly.

Hollie Davidson will probably be officiating the final and will be tougher on those things. Canada will need to adapt and won't see the penalty count so heavily in their favour in the final.

For every disadvantage call/nonn-call we may have been on the receiving end from the ref, there was a t least two or three things that we didn’t do or Canada did that created even more disadvantage to us.

We got outplayed by some very good ball retention and patient play.

I’m hoping France can pull one out of the bag.

Watching England-France now. Blatant miss of a ball being knocked in at the ruck leads to Englands first try. Really terrible reffing.
Howvere France do persist in kicking to Kildunne's channel. Stupidity.

Watching this, does anyone think the BFs took Canada too lightly?
I dunno. If so, then who does the blame rest with coach and assistants? Senior leadership team, captain, game drjvers?
I would say this is surely a big part of the coaching teams responsibility, they need to ensure the team is up for the matches.

Lovely from the right wing of France to make the initial break. After several opportunities to score, France eventually get over the line.

If they go back about 10 phases, this game is stuffed.

France seem to be lacking some speed in the forwards.

Poor sequence on the restart from France. Should’ve hoofed that ball, but the catcher takes the ball into contact on poor body position.

That last pen highlights something that needs to change - you can only go for the steal once the tackler is clear if they're on the wrong side.

Isn’t that a knock on by England. They ripped the ball and it fell forward?

No they had tremendous help from the ref though.
France were France in the 2nd half kinda just tailed off and their energy levels went.

Probably have to accept women's rugby being 30 years behind men's. So ref crowd/media influence that much stronger
